We love that fork! The lockout on ours is crap as well. Sucks that it didn't work, but we still enjoyed it...especially the tork hands👍😉😆

It turns out that cartridge uses a different top lever cause it uses a extra knob for low speed compression dampaning. The lockout on the original cartridge works now with the replacement small parts i got. Thanks for watching!

I forgot about the "torque hands " thing!

Nice, that was the first time I've seen what goes INSIDE the forks! And I like the detail about stacking the spacers staggered, always nice to have a little mechanical redundancy.

I've had to rebuild a SF12-EPICON-X2-DS-LO-R-lite-26 a couple of times as the lockout/damper fails, both times this has been after not much use and the failure was the damper cartridge unscrewing itself and all the damper fluid leaking out. A couple of months ago I refilled with damper fluid and used Loctite 248 on the threads. Apparently I forgot to put the weak little spring back in, the damping has failed again pretty quickly, you can hear the cartridge has fallen apart as it makes the appropriate noises. I'm yet to dismantle it and discover if this is because of the missing spring or the cartridge unscrewing itself again.

Iv had alot of success with Suntour parts, but i guess quality control isnt what it used to be !

Forks are my favourite things to tinker with and I don't understand why there are not official upgrade paths for MTB forks.

I guess there so many variations it would be tough to suppy a specific package to upgrade every version. Thanks for watching!

@@theshedMTB yeah your right but if they publicly stated the thread sizes and o-ring diameters. I could figure out the rest myself.

It's funny you say this, because I've been struggling with finding the proper seals for my Suntour Raidon Fork. The universal ones they sell are too big a diameter to fit into the fork with with the 34 mm stanchions. I do find suntour to be pretty good on replacement parts though, but some things are still lacking!

Im curious, why would you need to do this ? is this to replace another broken fork? or is there better performance? (asking for a friend 😂)

Its a 27.5 fork im putting a 26 bike to build what's called a mullet. A mullet is a bike that has a smaller rear wheel than the front wheel. This gives you the advantage of the bigger wheel bike on the front but the quick flickability and turnability of a smaller rear wheel. It's really a performance thing. But changing the fork makes a noticeable difference even if you're not changing wheel sizes. OEM style Forks are usually not that good. They're heavy and they don't dampen very well.

Why I would do it is another story! It's an addiction, that's all I can say!
