Will there ever be a fourth generation of Vision? V3’s been around a really long time now. I refuse to believe that V3 is as far as film technology can be taken, especially by Kodak.

The most important thing is choosing the right recording speed. Many make the mistake and film in 18 frames / second. For the release of Super-8 on DVD / BluRay in professional quality you should film only with 24 frames / second. Second, where possible, you should film with tripod. And: With ink you have to keep the camera completely still and not wobble with it. The subject should move, but not the camera.

What the? Man can put a rover on Mars with a little heli-drone, but can't stop a Super 8mm camera re-design from overheating on Earth in 2020? And now Kodak wants to produce pharmaceuticals? Gahhhhh! Okay: perhaps from their pill-profiteering in big pharma, they'll fix their overheating problem on the damn camera! Or just sedate me already.

At 2:07 the narrator mis-states Tri-X is EI 400. 135 Tri-X is ISO 400 whereas Tri-X reversal has an Exposure Index of 200D/160T. She fails to mention that it is a reversal stock.

@1:16, when you mention the 500T film (which I use for both day and night). The clip looks so janky it reminds of the Iraq scene from the Exorcist. What I mean by janky is that up and down jitter on film when something is filmed either at a faster or slower framerate. And the motion from people and cars can be a good giveaway at this janky motion I'm trying to capture. What frame rate was that at? 18fps? Or 36fps? I'm shooting mainly in 36fps with my Super 8 and hope to recreate that janky look @1:16 in this video. Solid! 🐼🎨📼🦦

unfortunately as film is kinda niche, I don’t expect prices to ever go down. Fuji just raised their prices, the price of ektachrome and e6 processing isnt cheap. On top of good scans. Shooting film is just an expensive hobby I’m afraid.

Kodak fell on its head. If these films were produced in the 70s they would be completely unusable. Kodak has opted for the easy solution to the detriment of the user: he digs into his stock of Vision film reserved for the cinema to release Super 8 cassettes, because Kodak no longer produces real Super 8 film. These Vision films are negatives which require an internegative to obtain a projectable positive copy, which is impossible to do today in Super 8. These films are therefore condemned to be scanned in order to be viewed. So what is the interest of doing Super 8? None, because you go from a purely analog medium to a digital file, which is of no interest, especially since you lose information in the process. It is therefore a monumental farce and above all a total disregard for users who love real film. Only the Ektachrome 100D (and possibly the Tri-X Reversal) is projectable, but far inferior to the Kodachrome of yesteryear. The cinema film for amateurs is over, and Kodak will have contributed to its downfall.

Intentionally pushing us to buy the new super 8 cameras to enjoy a old and classic way of filming video, how ironic. Although magnetic strips could be on the way but that would give people less of a reason to buy a new super 8 camera and I doubt Kodak would sacrifice money to please a couple hundred people, if even that many.

The Millenial voice of this video failed to mention that the color films are negative films, and that the Tri-X is reversal. But I guess that’s just too difficult a concept for Millenials to understand, right now. And yeah, where the hell is mention of Ektachrome.

”The Millenial voice” is just any person reading a script. This is an overview of the film stock, you do not need any details if you are an amateur and if you are a professional you already know everything there is to know, this is your baisc consumer video. Also do not forget that the Millennials are the reason film is becoming popular again.

Bought a Elmo Super 110 for $70.00 Bought some batteries for $10.00 Bought some film for $40.00 Developed it for $25.00 Scanned for it $30.00 in Total: $175.00 Just the film dev & scan: $95.00 I have $1,325.00 to buy another digital camera... What are you talking about? And yes shipping was included, even though if you ask some film processing labs will pay the shipping.

Eugene Batiste what a stupid statement. First of all you expect someone to have a 1500 camera just lying around ready for sale. Second of all, why would anyone downgrade their equipment to buy something else. Third of all, that 40$ for some film gets you like 6 minutes worth of film. so not really a good advice. film is ridiculously expensive. try shooting and hour long video and lets see how much that costs.

Eugene Batiste One hour isn't that much. If you are making holiday film or documentary or even just a wedding shoot. it will easily hit 20min even before you notice. Let alone a sports event. I'm just saying. I easily get one hour of footage by just going around in nature. I'm not saying film is bad. I just bought canon 1014 camera and start shooting film as well. I'm just saying it's really a novelty item and it is still a lot cheaper to buy modern canon 200D and do everything with it.
