When I was making wattles for 28mm I used tongue depressers, cocktail sticks and natural bristles from a scrubbing brush.

You make it look real easy...could it possibly be so simple?! :) They look great. I'll have to give this a go sometime.

They were pretty easy, but then I had worked out any kinks with the prototypes I have at the beginning.

Very nice, by chance were these fences used in mainland Europe during the napoleonic wars?

I don't know to be honest, They are usually more associated with medieval/dark ages but they are also still used to this day. I would have thought for Napoleonic however you'd be better off with hedgerows. Possibly still these for animal pens and such but even then I guess sawn timber fences would be more likely.

Also coincidentally, I have a plan to take a pop at 10mm hedgerows in a week or two so stay tuned.

For cleaning up the bottoms (~7 minute mark) wouldn't just sliding it along some sand paper clean them up too?
