Music to my ears. Wish I could smell the aviation fuel.

Brings back memories. I have over 4000 hours in the Connie as Pilot/Instructor Pilot... John Flood (below) I up graded a lot of the pilots for that mission. I was stationed at Otis AFB on Cape Cod for 10 tears.

Sounds great! Brings back a lot of memories. I had 1,000+ hours in EC-121Ms as a crewman in the Navy.

Immer wieder herrlich zu sehen, wie diese alte technik immer noch funktioniert - auch wenn hier der Umweltgedanke ein wenig mit den Füssen getreten wird. Sehr schönes Video!

I got a ride on a constellation in the early 70s from Greater Pittsburg AFB TO Maguire AFB in NJ as a member of the Civil Air Patrol after spending two weeks of air force basic for cadets. I was always impressed with the diameter of the props and the height of the fuselage. All the seats faced the back of the plane which was weird on takeoff but completely understandable on landing.

Considering what was available at the time in terms of precision tooling and machining capabilities, I'm amazed that the piston engines of that era worked as well as they did! I have heard that good valve-sealing was a real problem in those days.

Would you like a smoke and a pancake? You know, flapjack and a cigarette? No? All right. Cigar and a waffle? No? Pipe and a crepe? No? Bong and a blintz? No? Oh, well, then there is no pleasing you.

I would be interested to know how much engine oil is burned when the engines are started 😁😁😁 I don't think the trees behind it would survive a second launch in the same year

All that oil stuck in the bottom cylinders needs to burn off. I wonder if those engines are the same as which were on the later models of the B-29. Also I wonder why all the propellers turn in the same direction...seems to me that would cause a constant push in one direction.
