Awesome video lessons. Because you explain a lot about technique, I feel like they have a good pace even for someone who plays bass and already knows music theory (like me). I didn't expect my fingers to hurt so much though. I guess it's from the fact that guitar has thinner strings with more tension in them. I do like the songs you suggest, but I also looked at tabs of songs that I usually listen to, I saw 7th chords and bar chords with really hard strumming patterns, aaand... my fingers told me I'm fine playing A, D, and E for now:)

Might not get any replies since the videos are so much easier to watch straight from the website but I'll try anyway. Is anyone else finding themselves pressing much harder for the A chord than for the E and D chords? I can play the A just fine when I'm practicing single chords, but when I'm actually playing it just seems like the margin of error for the index finger when I play the A is miniscule. I always get a slight ring and the only solution I've found so far is to just press harder whenever I have to play the A chord.
@julienperkins5488
Жыл бұрын
I feel it’s my index finger (g string) rings out on my a because the finger is so high on the fret and smushed in, it’ll all come with practice and finding what works best, for me I keep my fingers as tight as possible so that there’s enough space to get my index finger closer to the fret
@justinguitar
Жыл бұрын
If you are pressing harder, you can press too hard. That can make the note(s) go sharp and cause finger tip pain. It may be your nut slots are cut too high and your guitar will benefit from having them filed down a little to lower the action at the low frets. Check with a guitar tech in a local store. Cheers 😊 | Richard_close2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide & Approved Teacher www.justinguitar.com

I'm having the same issue (first week learner). I've noticed in the play along, my index finger drifts farther back from the fret which requires me to press harder. Of course the better thing to do is bring my finger closer to the other two and closer to the fret. I can do this in chord perfect practice but lose it during play alongs. I'm sure I will get better with time and correct practice.
