Hi Riders,
welcome back to the Bikes4eddie channel.
In today's video, I'll tell you why I think it's fun and useful to start your motorcycle adventure with a maxi-enduro that comes straight from the 80s or early 90s.
The advantages are at least four and the disadvantages that I see are three.
First of all, starting your motorcycle adventure with an outdated motorcycle allows for initial savings in the purchase of the vehicle, also combined with a good variety of choices between the different models and years available for those who want to go in this direction.
Then there is the indisputable fascination that an old motorcycle exerts on the owner: the memories, smells and noises of a vehicle that is twenty years old or more can only make those between 40 and 50 years old like me dream.
Furthermore, young timers teach a lot, both in terms of driving and in terms of knowing how to get by. They are easy bikes, friendly, simple in construction: with a little wire and a few tools they never leave you stranded, precisely because they are spartan and 100% analog.
Finally, they are reliable, precisely because what is not there cannot be broken.
No electronics, all mechanics, in pure and healthy old school style. And you know, mechanics always repair themselves in some way.
However, if due checks and due maintenance are not carried out, precisely because these bikes are dated, they risk leaving you stranded and breaking when you least expect it.
Ordinary and extraordinary maintenance must be very accurate and above all it is better to get well informed on the forums and in the communities of the owners of this or that model before proceeding with the purchase, to know ex-ante what problems you could encounter.
Pay attention to the availability of spare parts. If you intend to buy a young timer, evaluate how many and which spare parts are available on the market, and how to get hold of any consumables that you may need over the years.
Last but not least, pay close attention to the approvals and periodic inspections of the vehicle. Over the years some details of the vehicle, such as the tyres, may no longer be available: it is therefore good to know how to modify the registration certificate or what to do to carry out the periodic inspection of the vehicle.
I hope to be able to convey to you the pleasure and emotion I feel when I'm in the saddle and that you may like this video and enjoy yourself for a few minutes.
Let me know in the comments what you think and if you have any doubts or questions.
