When I was in 9th grade I started making lister rows. That took a lot of thinking to keep the rows strait. I used a JD 720. The lister was 3 40" furrows. We planted 2 rows on the bed. That was in the 1950's. I can still feel the clods being kicked up by the tires.

Great video Conley, the electric bike people mentioned is a great idea, also buy a portable bike rack with quick releases that you can move from tractor to tractor or onto impliments so you can take it with you where ever you go. Kind of fun and different feeling being your own boss with nobody around !

Have y’all ever tried strip tilling by chance? Might would help with the blowing of topsoil maybe!
@conleybanman
Ай бұрын
We have a strip till and we used it for one field of peanuts last year and it worked pretty good. But only because we didn’t have cotton on there the previous year. Volunteer cotton destroys peanuts so that’s why we plow to get rid of it

I have a sandy patch of ground that will grow peanuts, otherwise, our soils are too heavy. Cotton doesn’t work in the corn belt. We all do it the way that works for us, but as a zealot no tiller, cover crop guy, that plowing is like watching a baby get murdered or something. But I get it.

This is beautiful. I dream of having atleast 5-10 tractors and start a tillage company to help Till the land for smallholder farmers in my community at a fee. If land prep is done early and of good quality, I believe our Small-scale farmers can improve on yields for most of their crops. This is really beautiful 😍
