I Just Wish Universal Could still do Things to their Classic Kids Movies, like An American Tail (1986) and The Land Before Time (1988)

They had a play structure based on Fievel for like 20 years

@@theboyscout0156yeah, and he’s saying he wished they “could STILL do.” It’s an outdated IP that the majority of children have never heard of. It would be nice though, if they could relocate some of it to the new Frisco park, even if it’s just putting it inside the hotel. Being “Universal Kids,” it would technically fit, and would be a nice homage to not just Universal Parks, but the company as a whole, especially because “it all started with a mouse.” Without the first movie, there would be no Fievel Goes West. Without Fievel Goes West, there would be no Amblimation. Without Amblimation, there might’ve not been a DreamWorks, which is a huge part of the Universal Kids brand. I also recall them selling Land Before Time merch alongside Fievel. I just don’t know if they could do anything with it at Camp Cretaceous. They did show the movies and series on their Universal Kids channel, but those children who got a chance to watch it, will be too old once this park opens. They’re already too old now.

If they still promoted those films as the classics that they are, then yes. They could (and should) be up there with ET as far as timeless nostalgic family movies go. It was sad seeing Fivel leave the park, but he has a great run. It's too bad we won't be seeing him in Texas.

@@aaronsarchive82I do remember seeing the poster for the original An American Tail, along with the year on one of the construction walls outside KidZone when I was there in Feb 2022, almost a full year before the closure of KidZone. And of course, some dinky little Fievel ornament this channel showed during a recent “what’s new” video. But yes, there’s not much. Maybe they’ll do a small tribute, but if they do anything, it will be for the parents. But given the age of the children, most of these parents will have been born AFTER both movies came out, with no memory of the 2 sequels that followed, as well as the animated series. I feel that’s the real reason behind Sponge Bob. They’re doing it for the parents that grew up with him, and want to share their love of an artificial sponge with their kids. …even though he and Patrick disrespected Texas as well as it’s people. I’m also not too fond of that Sandy either. We can’t have a Russian Jew rodent, but they’ll give us a culturally insensitive syndicated sponge.

one of the main reasons why im assuming is bc not a lot of kids now and days just look up to those characters, they’ve been around for decades, putting something new in helps and it wouldn’t bring in a lot of people as it would back in the early 2000s or 90s.

I think this is a mistake to make this focused only for kids. I wouldn't want to go there by myself like I do Universal Studios Hollywood. Would have been cool to be more inclusive; make it not creepy for adults to go by themselves.

I would give so much if they would just make a land before time themed land in any of their American theme parks.

I was surprised by Sponge Bob. I figured they couldn’t have a wizarding world, because they did not want to pay WB for a small regional park. But with Sponge Bob, they’re paying Paramount. With the name “Universal Kids,” that doesn’t just open up the park to Minions, but other Illumination IPs too, like Sing! And Secret Life of Pets. Why invest in Sponge Bob, when other free IPs would do?
@AndrewGrabowski

SpongeBob is a cultural staple that probably appeals to a wider audience than many of the Illumination IPs

@@AndrewGrabowski wider audience = adults who grew up with the show and want to share their love and artificial yellow sponge with their kids. But children would still love Sing! and Secret Life of Pets. Sponge Bob at least has a little more than two movies in his catalog compared with the IPs I mentioned, but he also costs money while the other IPs are free. I am just wondering if the updated cheaper concept isn’t the result of such an investment.

Not a news break since it was announced Friday, but at least they covered it. I was shocked they didn’t say anything about them breaking ground a few weeks ago.

@@UmmYeahOkagreed, I really like this channel and the Disney version of this channel but it is definitely more tilted to Disney being priority of getting the news out as quick as it happens as much of the Universal news has been released by the time they do the shows on it here

WDWNT is pretty much updated daily. Universal News seems to be weekly, with USO/IOA “walkthroughs/shows/releases” whenever needed. Sometimes I wonder if they have just her doing all the work for all of Universal, and then sometimes Tom chimes in. I know that when I leave comments on WDWNT, I get replies, likes, and sometimes favorites from the channel, but I don’t see much attention given to the Universal comment section, even though there’s little activity. I kept informing them of the ground breaking, but I guess they only accept news tips from their website.

@@UmmYeahOk yes that is the impression I get as well, I know Tom really doesn’t like Universal or atleast that’s the vibe I get so I am glad someone else is doing it that has more enthusiasm but they will have to get on the ball because when Epic opens it will all be universal all the time for a good while

@@adamp2384I think the issue isn’t necessarily that Toms not a fan. It’s just that a lot of us are Disney Park fans, and visit Universal simply because we are already there. Since they’re local, it makes sense to cover both, and, uh, Peppa Pig 😁 But as fans, we are seeing Universal step up their game while Disney has fallen asleep at the wheel. As Disney fans, we’re angry and feel that Disney didn’t just lose its magic. They just flat out don’t care. I don’t know if this anger shows up in their presentation of the Universal show, but clearly they’re going to focus on the channels that bring them the most revenue. They may simply not have the staffing. I know they’ve been trying to hire editors and other positions. This may be an issue since one of the requirements is to be an Orlando local, but for CA Parks, I’d assume they had someone on location, otherwise they’re constantly flying back and fourth, which is a big expense. Foreign parks they pretty much have to rely on third party sources, which is why you’d think they’d pay attention to the comments, otherwise they’re stuck doing their own research. And really, how often are they going to check on a dinky little Texas park that hasn’t had dirt moved in 10 months since it was announced.
