Wow. Incredibly rare footage of a Super SF2 Tournament. Thanks for the upload mnemo! I actually really like this game. It's a pretty solid game once you're able to turn up the speed settings.

Each player had his own style so it was interesting to watch the championship 1993 and 1994. It was 30 years ago! Wow we are still alive! Thank God and I hope all of you are living well.

That was a lot of fun to watch! Sorry Nakano Sagat went out so quickly but there were some great Dhalsim, Chun-Li and Claw matches to enjoy. I'm impressed with how quickly they learned Super.

I must of been in 5th or 6th grade when i was playing this game on SNES. Good ol times in Japan. Now you can play this on steam with 30th anniversary, Thanks for the awesome video
I just wish these videos had English subtitles so that I can understand what's going on when they're talking to the players. But awesome vid. SF vids of the year.

One of the rare instances where the home console port was better than the arcade because you can actually make the speed faster in the snes and genesis versions. I like most people took the graphical and sound sacrifice just to have a faster more balanced speed which the new challengers on the arcade lacked

Thanks for your comment, eltrouble! I found out this tape in the closet. This tape reminds me of boyhood memories...
Guys I feel for this Vega player (Nobuki Honjou), he legit never lost a match until his rematch with Ryu/Sagat player (Jun Kitsuka). During the final 4 phase he beat all the other players without dropping even one match, based on the way the scoring was done I think he was robbed: Lose both rounds: 0 points Win 1 round but lose 2 rounds: 1 point Win 2 rounds but lose 1 round: 2 points Win both rounds: 3 Points The Ryu player simply beat the other competitors 2 rounds without losing any and as a result ended up with 7 points even though he lost a match. Then during the finale/rematch he used Ryu instead of Sagat so he managed to get a matches worth of data on his opponent (which in this format is deadly, 1 match is all anyone got). In my book that Vega won the tournament, maybe in some other timeline.

The winner is so emotional, I can't take it. Show some restraint man.
Oh I'm not implying that you should do it. That would take FAR too long to subtitle 50 minutes worth of material, even with the right captioning software. I just find old footage like this interesting, because it makes me think of news ways to bring these old strategies to ST. I've trying to create a style that incorporates a lot of this old-school style of play along with new-school style tricks.

Man this videos really caught my attention. The No.1 player Kitsuka jun is so impressing. I am so curious how he is doing now do you have any more news about him? He just so humble and lovely and the playing style is so much fun to be watching so please let us know more about his whereabouts ever since this championship.
Lastima que en Americá no hubo esa magnitud de eventos desde esa época, si acaso en USA y muchos años después
