@Elfin4 Saw that on another boat. Is that just for an emergeny? The other boat had a submarine as well but it seemed like a superfluous thing. Like you have everything already and need to come up with new stuff to put on your (2nd) boat

@@SuperYachtCaptain I'm thinking since AWOL is for sale, you might have commissioned a bigger motherboard already, and just exploring the possibilities of expanding with support vessels. After last year's awards i remember you saying you wanted to move to a bigger dinghy. The next chapter is gonna be interesting for sure. If you ask me, Tristan, given the fact the nice refit you did on AWOL, keep it, assign another captain, maybe your brother-in-law, find a new captain for lizzie, and you get the new flagship (with the support vessel maybe). It is obvious your boss is into chartering, expand the venture. Summer in the med, winter in the Caribbean. Given the fact you have a support vessel you can cross the Atlantic with all 3 boats in convoy (store extra fuel and food on the support vessel). Charter for the passage that way its paid transport. Year round operation baby!

THANK YOU for showing this type of vessel. I find it has a wonderful blend of utility and comfort. Passageways are human-scale; ladders and staircases the same. The technical area means business and has plenty of work room as needed. These days, when one visits a factory website, there are 'static' photos and little sense of the flow or of the possible configurations of a ship. If you like filming and reporting on this segment, I for one will follow your every step!

Great video. I come from the commercial side of the maritime world, tugs and offshore oilfield support. After retiring I took a gig on a shadow boat. It’s a great way to move over to the large yacht sector. We carried all manner of water toys, motorcycles, jet skis, kayaks, bicycles and personal subs. It also had a hyperbaric chamber, and a couple nitrox compressors, and much much more.

I’m living in such a different world with such different choices to make. My guests hardly ever complain about having to wait for 2 hours before the submarine and water skis are disembarked - being somewhat disappointed - asking me politely why I didn’t send ahead a shadow boat to have it all ready to go when they arrive. After all they’re pretty clueless at this point about how to kill the next two hours. Instead, so far my guests have shown great patience and have always been courteous and okay with waiting for two hours max. I serve them champagne and - of course - caviar in the onboard theatre in the mean time. I guess I’m used to very humble, modest guests.

Your super rich relative invites you to go for a cruise after years of you feeling like the after thought of the family. You think your finally going to cruise on Uncle Moneybag's super yacht. Instead you wind up staying on the spartan tender ship. It's still a cruise and you still get to do most of the fun stuff, but you also know that you're still a second class relative to Uncle Moneybags.
@kurtisburtis
3 жыл бұрын
Alternate scenario-Uncle Moneybags knows you well and realizes that you: 1. would be bored stiff while enduring aperol spritzers and tedious cocktail conversation on the mothership; 2. think tender and support ops are much more interesting, and having “utilitarian” accommodations is a fair trade; and 3. appreciate the opportunity to “help the crew ensure everything is ship-shape” (i.e., sneak-peek chance to play with the toys, understanding that you need to be back to greet her when she arrives). After all, we all watched this video, didn’t we? 😁
