65 years old. Retired USMC (22 years) then Retired from Blackwater (20 years). I was crippled for over 2 -1/2 years with a crushed spine and my weight went up to 288 lbs. One day last year, I tossed the walker out of the front door (don't know what happened to it???) along with the Oxycodone, Morphine, etc, after the V.A told me that I would never be able to lift more than a gallon of milk. At 6'2" tall and with no gray hair, I am now down to 220 lbs with a 60" chest and a 34" waist and you don't see a wrinkle where the fat used to be. Kettle Bell workout with 10,000 reps per month, eating right, and listening to 'YOU ONLY'... has helped me tremendously Troy. God Bless and Thank You!

Trust me guys, BRACHIALIS are the key! Literally the other day I saw a dude with swollen ass arm. His biceps looks huge. Here I am looking at my biceps asking what did I do wrong? My mind & consciousness was juggling that time & I finally came to the realization that the brachialis definitely adds a whole lot more volume than the regular bicep itself. I trained my brachialis for 4 days now & YESSS my arm 100% & definitely look way way fuller than before. Yes I will start a new chapter in my brachialis development! Thanks.
@roncerjani9063
Жыл бұрын
I've tried to do that, but to no success. I almost never feel the brachialis, I feel the pain mostly in the part that connects the biceps with the forearms. And it's not a burn, it's literal pain. I also do pullups and chinups like crazy, even on leg days.

you may want to advise your subscribers to first strengthen their wrists and forarms before doing pronation bicep excercises. i started doing pronation exercises last summer (not very heavy weight, started at 15lbs and got up to 30lbs after a few months), but started noticing i was having elbow pain. i ended up with tennis elbow, and had to take 6 months off. Did physio during that time, and im slowing getting back into things but my elbow still hurts if i try to lift anything in a pronated way.

A good way to build thickness and width with biceps is by using Hammers as some people call it. Grab 2 dumbells of a weight you can rep and that you are comfortable with lifting. Then hold them in a sideways grip and away you go, hence why some call them hammers.

all you can do is contract the muscle and if you're lucky it will grow. How it grows is up to genetics (size, width, peak). You can try and target angles, grips or different movements but biceps contract all the same. (I used to have 21 inch arms cold, now about 19) and only thing I found is the exercises I liked the least for biceps (barbell curls, alternate dumbell curls) were also the most effective for growth. Heavy Alternate dumbells curls were exhausting to me, but man did they work well.

Thanks, that was cool. I can only do a little of this as I broke my wrist (titanium plate inserted, then I developed CRPS: complex regional pain syndrome) so my arm & chest atrophied- I started working out again a couple weeks ago (surgery was early May, it's now mid August) with a 1 lb weight! Couldn't tie my shoes or pick up a coffee cup... but I'm determined because I HATE what I looked & felt like & COULD NOT allow that to continue... anyway I'm up to 10 lbs on the bad arm, 15 on the good one. I was looking for some brachialis tips & yours seem good; I'm eager to try them (I started out with really thin wrists before the accident but ha! now that there's a titanium plate in there it's thicker; but of course... it's not muscle). Thanks again. -L.

Changing your upper arm position won’t help activate the brachialis more since it only crosses over one joint. The only curling muscle that is effected by upper arm position is the biceps long head. So you can put more of the load on the brachialis by limiting the bicep long heads contribution by doing pronated spider curls or on a preacher bench. Since the bicep long head crosses the shoulder joint, you are putting in in a relaxed and weak position by having your arms out in front of you. There’s really no way to limit the short heads contribution other than the pronated grip, but at least you’ve greatly reduced the contribution of one of the 4 muscles that work synergistically. And it also ensures that you aren’t swinging the weight and helps make sure there is no anterior deltoid contribution. It’s the only exercise where I really feel the brachialis contracting and burning. I’ve also noticed I feel a much greater burn if I pretend I’m trying to bend the EZ bar in half at the top of the rep while simultaneously trying to move my hands further apart and elbows closer. I can’t figure out why this cue helps since the brachialis cannot contribute to pronation or supination, but this cue really helped me feel the brachialis work. If anyone else has trouble with them, give it a shot. I’ve also heard conflicting reports on whether it is more active in the bottom end or top end of a curl. I’ve tried partials both ways. I definitely feel it more at the top, so that’s where I do partials. At the bottom end, I feel a lot more work in the biceps and brachioradialis. That’s why I like preacher bench pronated curls for the brachioradialis, where the load is heaviest near the bottom end.

Slim wrists doesn’t mean bad genetics. In physique terms it’s the taper that’s aesthetic, so a skinny wrist with big muscles is ideal, like Phil Heath. Maybe if you want to be an armwrestler or strongman you want a thick wrist.
