I think we all look to the man of steel to project greatness onto ourselves. He’s the ideal role model superhero

Amazing video my friend. When I think of Superman I think of the goth girl on the roof scene from All Star, I think you sum it up well that he is a protector and not an aggressor. And unlike Batman he didn’t have an event that shifts his world view this just who he chooses to be, day in day out. In a world full of toxic masculinity we can all learn from Superman ❤

I get the same reaction from alot of people often too that superman does but I'm very much not him he wasn't my hero growing up no none was because I not him... I doubt anyone could be him given you don't have the constant dread that if you get out of bed to hard you'll send the Earth into the sun... But I am a hero of his caliber like Batman, Wonder Woman, Captin America, Spider Man, Luke Skywalker, Mario and my favoite Ruby Rose are... Becuase I want to help people and better myself. Which the world does have Superman this video was about him after all... So it's ok to just be a hero inspeared by him like all Super Heros have been.

Great video although I don't see how masculinity is tied to a time or place when what makes and man and women a woman has never changed... We still have the same insencts and parts as our ancestors not just homo sapiens but all humans... Like for example a long time ago Men were hunters and women gathers, and I have seen no one dispute that it was every Human group everywhere doing it that way even current year... Sure were some groups may be more open minded and let their people switch roles I don't see why not? Just like not every medeval culture was English despite what everyone seemly believes... Which why that was the case was Men's eyes have better motion detection and women's eyes have can see more colors agian comparing averages to averages... Which is pretty obvious given the fact that the largest game genre for men is First person shooters and women puzzle games so that if that hasn't changed in the past forever or so and is universal why would Masculinity change from time and place? Also you know that again universal though out time and place Men have made up the majority of combatants and women the vast majority of caretakers yes even now in current year... Mainly because of how Humans have and raise children... Not to mention the lendary heros tend to have alot of traits shared with each other no matter the time of place. Also let's not forget Superman is at his best having the same traits as he did 100 years ago so if Super man is still the hero to litterly everyone on Earth have things really changed?

I appreciate you coming through and I appreciate the thoughtful comment. I'd argue you're right in a sense that gender roles have been fairly the same across time and place. But masculinity, and what defines being a man has changed. Spartans used to have lover boys for example, but that was part of their masculinity, someone to workout with and blow off steam after. It was common place, where as now, that'd be 'pretty gay' and not very masculine in the traditional sense. Imagine Jon Wayne shooting a movie then going back to his trailer and blowing off steam with Steve from camera crew 4. He wouldn't have been seen as very masculine at the time if he engaged in this. Again, I think you're right about gender roles across time, but masculinity is a little different. As far as Superman goes I'd say he still keeps his core traits from his origins but has expanded upon them. No longer just for America but for a better world, things like that.

My problem with Superman is that he's the poster boy for the Status Quo. Sure, he'll protect - but he won't build.

@sergioaccioly5219 Really great point! The only thing I'd argue against is that the ideas and values of Superman can definitely be used to inspire positives.
