You clearly have very little training knowledge about geared and raw lifting. Doing a one rep max in a bench shirt is actually harder than doing it raw as there is so much more pressure being placed on the body.Why do you think people like ryan kennely and scott mendalson are always popping blood vessels when they are benching at meets. Please if you dont know what your talking about dont comment and if you dont like geared lifting dont watch the video.

What? That's a bad shirt to learn in man! 😅 Loose metal single plus were where it was at for learning. Used one for a whole year then took to an SDP fairly easily.

I understand that we, that want to lift heavy ass weight, will put ourselves through hell to do it. But it just seems like a huge waste of time to have 6 or 7 people spotting and getting you in gear just to move a weight a couple inches. For me personally I will stick with NO gear and be ok with whatever I can achieve.

To be fair, usually you don't need more than two other folk. Besides, from experience in both raw and equipped, I'll tell you there is definatley an element that has been lost training solo. Just my perspective :)

if it is harder to do a one rep max in a bench shirt then without one,then why does anyone use a bench shirt? this is not s criticism but a question! i don't know anything about this stuff! and i intend to start a training regimen!
@tastefulphrasing

@MrMilliron IT would. But people dont want to show how strong they really are.... Just know that guys like Ed, Arcidi, Malanichev, karwoski, etc, will always be stronger...... Bigger number doesn't mean stronger.....

I do respect the weight they lift though, but with all this gear, we will never really know who is the strongest.....

DT seems to grip the bar weird, is it because his hands are that big? either way, im going to give it a shot next time i bench to see if it feels different.

Okay great, you can lift that heavy bar. But you arms won't go above your shoulders and don't fit by your sides. I don't understand the appeal.

i think the main reason i lift raw is because it looks way too fuckin hard to put the equipment on lol

They only go down a few inches because they're doing the board press, sometimes called the towel press. It helps lifters work on their "dead spots". Those are where the lifter usually freezes during thier lift.

The truth hurts sometimes doesn't it haha. The dead lift is the only one of the big three that hasn't been destroyed by gear. Benedikt Magnusson made sure of that.

Bench shirts are not easy to use. They actually require a lot of skill, effort, and pain. But if you can't recognize the honest effort of others, even when it's not something you want to do yourself, then I kinda feel sorry for you. Your world is small.

Same here. I recognise it's a different lift entirely that takes real skill to master, but ultimately it's still an assistance. Only my opinion though, doesn't take anything away from these dudes!
