Let's talk about how we can support older students with age-appropriate visuals. Visual supports are everywhere in special education classrooms, they are needed for students AND teachers. Visuals are great at helping learners understand what's expected from them in an accessible way. However, it's important to be mindful of the resources that we use, especially with older students. Even if an older student isn't learning at their grade level, that doesn't mean we can't provide age-appropriate supports that meet them at their learning level. Clip art can come across as "babyish."
