With all the coin I have tied up in suppressors $50 for an alignment rod didn’t bankrupt me. Invest in them, they are worth the insurance.

I agree. Also, I’ve had the range I’m a member of check it with their rod for free as well. The same place I purchased the suppressor and shoot. Nice service giving the $$ we spend shooting.

I agree and I should probably get at least one for my 5.56 guns, since I'll be moving that suppressor around on multiple firearms.

Great content! Your “quick attach” observation is right on point. Whatever you do, don’t attach a hot suppressor to a cold muzzle device. If you think for a moment, you’ll understand. I lucked out and bought a Hub compatible suppressor without understanding the importance. Since then, I’ve gone from direct thread mount to Plan B (Rearden’s Atlas). A big advantage is that each muzzle device is, in effect, an inexpensive and easily replaced thread protector for your barrel. It’s especially great if you want to use the can on rifles with different muzzle thread pitches. In addition, multiple manufacturers produce Plan B mounts *and* muzzle devices so you aren’t locked into a proprietary system. I have parts from Rearden, Forward Controls Design, and Q. Plan B and ASR both have a tapered shoulder in front of the threads. This helps keep carbon out of the threads, making it easier to remove. Leave a direct thread mount on your rifle for a while and it might be *really* difficult to remove. P.S. direct thread only eliminates ONE set of threads. Still a valid point, but any mount has to screw into the back of the suppressor.

In the opening scene, you're wearing hearing protection. I was wondering if that suppressor lowered the noise enough to shoot without hearing protection? My next suppressor will be a QD.
@msquared9605

In my opinion, no matter the caliber you’re shooting suppressed, they’re only hearing safe for a few shots at most. The sonic crack of the bullet starts to really mess with you, along with the suppressor to cartridge/barrel length combo making it not quite hearing safe. The only sustained fire that’s truly hearing safe is subsonic suppressed. And even that’s still pretty loud. I mean rack the hell out of your ar while shouldered. The bolt cycling is still fairly loud

@@sawtoothtactical404if an Atlas mount is longer (front to back) than an Omega from Q, you are talking about fractions of an inch. Just look at the product pages. Also, Rearden sells black nitride coated mounts instead of the weird brassy color of the Q products. Finally, you can find an Atlas mount in stock today if you look hard enough. I could not find an Omega mount anywhere for months.
