I had a supreme several years ago at a house I lived at, but the flavor never was great. It typically had a "watered down diluted" flavor. It just wasn't very sweet. What might have caused that? It never seemed to overcrop.

Most often watery flavor is due to a combination of overcropping and low vigor and Supreme can have both. When looking at a vine you should see mostly leaves. If you are seeing a lot of the berries it is probably overcropped. Occasionally too much water can also dilute flavor, but that is not common.

@@patrickconner6532 Thank you for the info. I'm tempted to try it again. Debating between supreme or lane as I have room for 1 more vine.

@@johnmarklockling9113 Overall I think Supreme is a better cultivar. The one advantage of Lane is that it is early. For home gardens it's more important to have a long fruiting period than maximum amount of fruit. If you have other early cultivars go with Supreme, if not, go with Lane. Watch crop load with both, especially in young vines.

which muscadine grape is best for wine I want to start making wine but want to use grapes down south since i'm from Georgia

The vast majority of commercial winemakers use 'Noble' for red wine and 'Carlos' for white wine. Both cultivars are vigorous, productive, and have good cold hardiness for a muscadine. If you don't care about color, and don't want to spray, I recommend 'Noble' as 'Carlos' will often get fruit rots if you don't apply fungicides. This being said, many home winemakers use other varieties so that they can have some for fresh eating.

None of the muscadines will have the dark red of a cabernet. 'Noble' tends to give a light color, more like a Pinot Noir at most. 'Noble' color is more stable than most other red muscadines and this is another reason it is used so often.

can the vine grow fast?

I have found 'Supreme' to only have moderate vigor. While not unhealthy, it isn't as vigorous as something like 'Carlos'.
