He is considered to be the greatest basketball shooter who ever lived. If you doubt it, ask him.
Frank "Porky" Vieira was a 5-foot-6 high school, college and semi-pro scoring machine in the 1950s and '60's. He later became one of the nation's winningest college baseball coaches. For proof of his sports accomplishments, visit his West Haven, CT., home. There, his house radiates past glory. The stairway and second-floor hallway are lined with plaques, certificates and a couple of retired sports jerseys. (It's unknown if the walls are wallpapered or painted). Guests will really find the motherlode of sports achievements in his upstairs bedroom, now transformed into a makeshift sports museum. This shrine of memories is the resting place for hundreds of glass-encased trophies and plaques. And even at 90, Vieira still gets excited - and can give a play-by-play - as he relives the story behind any trophy, plaque or picture.
