The gradient ring is used only in high rating LA which is relatively taller. The reason is that every ZnO element stacked inside the arrester has its own capacitance. As shown in diagram C is ZnO’s own capacitance. That means capacitance C is formed inside one ZnO element. But this ZnO element forms capacitance with another ZnO element and also with the ground. As we can see in the diagram along with its own capacitance C, ZnO forms capacitance with other ZnO pieces and with ground shown as C1, C2, and so on. This type of capacitance with other ZnO elements and ground is called stray capacitance. This stray capacitance value is negligible as compared to ZnO’s own capacitance in the case of short-length LA. Hence voltage distribution is uniform across LA. In the case of long length, LA stray capacitance is significant as compared to ZnO’s own capacitance. Hence voltage distribution is not uniform and is very high at the top as compared to the bottom. Here we can see without a gradient ring, V1 is greater than V2, and so on. This may lead to mal-operation of the surge arrester. Hence gradient ring is used to get uniform voltage distribution across LA. Here, with gradient ring voltages V1, V2, and so on are equal. Hence uniform voltage distribution is achieved.

Good explanation 👍, only point to correct is that ring for 220kV above is not only Corona ring but lower bigger part of that ring is called as grading ring and it's must for even voltage distribution of multiple unit arrester wherein height of arrester is more. Without that grading ring arrester can fail prematurely due to higher stress in top unit. Rest all very nicely explained 👍

It is very difficult to declare a particular type of motor an Ideal for electric vehicles. because each motor has its advantages and disadvantages too. but for electric traction ( electric trains, trolley, vehicles) DC series motor always been in use traditionally due to the main advantage of High starting torque with minimum current as compared to any other type of motor and it also have one main disadvantage that is comprise of commutator and brushes which regularly need maintenance and replacement. These days many other type of motors are also getting attention in this field because R&D getting more pace, like three phase induction motor, brush less DC motor and synchronous reluctance motor etc.

Vabhav ji, inductance or capacitance dono alga quantity hai or independent quantity, ab inme kon jada hoga kon kam hoga ye bhout sari baato pr nirbhar karta hai. jese 1) line conductor ke beech me distance 2) condutor ki height earth se 3) transmission line ki geometry 4) condutor ka size or bhi bhout sari bato pr. kisi quantity ko kam jyada karne ke liye ham transmission line ke design me change kar skta hai lekin hamare samne limitation bhi hoti hai ham ese tower bi nahi design kar sakte jo jyad space le y costly ho.
