We alway hope for an early opening here is North Idaho, but in the last 30 years it hasn't been to consistent. Usually looking at opening the week before Christmas on a more realistic opening. Weather is the main reason plus our max altitude is only 6300 feet with rain in the valleys only 2200feet.
Plus now greatly affecting solid openings are the number of people hitting the slopes on the soft opening! This quite often forces the areas to only run weekends to preserve to snow level's until the big storms pack it in, such is life without snow making!
However the natural snow fall pack is the best ride you can get, usually we are spoiled by a 500" plus season. Still I have seen a full season never reaching a packed run level above 35" so sometimes you got to do it with what you get.
So cross your fingers and toes and hope for the Big Dump.
