Price points vary depending on many different factors. Sometimes it's what labs and formulations the brand has access to. For instance, many brands including Charlotte Tilbury and La Mer is owned by huge conglomerates like Estee Lauder. Therefore, they can produce products for 'cheaper' using the network that is already set up (formulas, suppliers, etc) Independent brands have to set up their own formulations and it can be a labor of love for many of the owners. They may spend a lot of time in development. It's not always just the ingredients but where it's sourced and how they formulate them. It's a complex process to create a makeup product that includes business and creative considerations. Also, of course, it's also what they want their brand to represent or market as, ie luxury and or commercial appeal. Surratt beauty is definitely marketed as luxury and prides itself on being distinguishable among other items on the shelf. They create a lot of niche, editorial and artistic types of application and products. I still believe that although investors have infused the brand, it's still a private company. Just some thoughts. Also, I have heard a lot of different opinions on this foundation and some people love it. It goes to show you that makeup is very personal and you really must try and sample things in person if you are truly interested. Many people go into stores with opinions based purely on what their makeup guru has said and their skin type, tone, undertones, facial structure, age, annd technique may completely different. Try things for yourself.

After watching your review of the Surratt Dew Drop foundation, I thought I remembered seeing Michelle Wang’s review of the Surratt Dew Drop foundation. I rewatched Michelle’s review, and she adored it. Michelle has very dry skin and is in her mid 40’s. It appears that it must be one of those foundations you really do not care for or you really love. Nice that there are so many different choices for foundations. I have not tried that many foundations since I wear very little foundation-certainly neither heavy nor medium. Actually my two favorites are not even considered foundations-they are simply tinted sunscreens--the Trinny London tinted sunscreen and the Josh Rosebrook tinted sunscreen. Blessed with my mother’s Black Irish olive skin but, unfortunately, not with her black, black hair.

michele wang doesn't seem to mind the ingredients, she talks about that in her videos. natural/non-chemical and all that jazz aren't a deal-breaker for her. I think Elle pays more attention to ingredients and that's why I think she talks about not being able to justify the price point.

I absolutely love this foundation. I had purchased it after viewing Michelle Wang's review and I do think it's one of the nicer foundation's in my rotation. I still think the Koh Gen Do foundation you recommended ranks above it but this one has a wonderful finish as well. How would you rank the Il Makiage (sp?) one you just reviewed against the Koh Gen Do and the Surratt...What order would you rank them?

Just bought my first drug store foundation. Loreal Tru Match Lumi Foundation. It's not my Holy Grail by any means but wanted to try a drug store foundation for once. It doesn't really dry down and needs set. I think I could have got the one that wasn't Lumi. It did last all day yesterday. Used LM setting powder. This foundation is above the price of my Holy Grail foundations so won't be trying it but love the review! You always do a great job!!! ♥️

@@JPMJPM I have two. Glo Mineral Foundation and Make Up Forever HD Foundation. The Glo is still available on Walmart online for half the price as other websites but it's being discontinued on Walmart so all that's left is all there is. They went through a packaging change and so what's left is like 32.00 vs 60 on other websites.

Hey girl .. for the price, coverage and packaging .. No thanks! Would be like throwing out money. I prefer applying liquid with my fingers. Otherwise a beauty blender for other. I did receive my IL MAKIAGE foundation. Its definitely more of a full coverage than I'm use to, but will be perfect for the seasons change which is certainly taking place, sooner than my preference. It does feel great on and coverage is full. A LITTLE goes a long way equals a great price point! 💋

Haha, a silicone based BB Cream! The price is just because of the creates name, it has to be, there's nothing special about this "foundation". I love how in-depth and thorough you are. It's reassuring knowing the who and how with products, so thank you Elle. I still can't get over the price tag - $75 - WOW! 💕🏵💕🏵💕🏵💕

I have this foundation in shades 3 and 6 and I just love it. And I must say that it looks absolutely gorgeous on you, maybe even the most beautiful your skin has ever looked. Can I ask what is the longevity with the Surratt foundation? Do you have to set it? And what is your recommended way to put this on? I plan on purchasing this during Surratt's sale.
@sepideharfazadeh542
4 жыл бұрын
@@jewelnabq01 The longevity on my normal/dry skin is quite good. Surratt suggests that the best application is with fingers or a dense brush (like Sonia G's foundation brush, sorry I don't remember the exact name). So I've used it with fingers, but I prefer the brush and sometimes when I'm too lazy I use a damp sponge, though I don't suggest this because it soaks a lot of your foundation. I also set it with a very light powder on the my T zone (for e.g. hourglass or By Terry hyluronc powders). Hope this helps and enjoy your purchase

@@sepideharfazadeh542 Thank you! Perfect. And I have the ByTerry Powders as well. My hope is it lasts through a normal workday. It really does seem to have a lovely and natural looking finish. I don't really like using my fingers for application of foundation. 'Good to know a dense brush works well. I am excited as I am ordering this today, on sale.

Oh my goodness! I didn't care for the look of this foundation at all and with no skin care ingredients...well...not for me. The $75.00 price tag confirmed that I will not be getting this one ! I will pay for a product IF it delivers a big pay off, like Kohjendo for eg. I love that foundation. It's everything you said it was and more. I also really enjoy using Il Makiage. Those 2 and maybe Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk are my usual go to foundations. I like luminous, natural cover foundations. I love Foundation Friday's and wait for you to post these gems each week!! I'm always learning new things for which I'm very grateful!!! I wanted to ask you, if you'd care to share, what exactly is the colour (a reddish brown?) that you often wear on your eyes? I love it and I've been going through my pallets trying to find a similar shade. It's such a wearable colour, specially for every day and I love that look!! ;-)))))

@ellelearyartistry I got this in shade 3 and it matches me great. I did have the same issue w you using a brush and my favorite way to apply is using fingers like you and than I press in with a sponge . I also spray the tf hydrating spray after application and with time it gets better on my skin. I got the foundation for free because I had gift cards from Bloomingdales so I feel stupid to return it . Would I spend the 75$ for it .... probably not but I do like it to go to work . Would probably use my others to go to an event or party when I want more coverage.

Also the package is u hard to use and looks very inexpensive as to the packaging. Good question - why the $75 price tag!. #staytotheendsquad. Thank you for the review. No, you are not the only one. I hated the mechanism and the formula. Way too liquidy for me. Way too expensive for the amount we get. I don't really care if it doesn't have skin benefits because IMHO we don't get much from those ingredients mixed in a Foundation. Yes, similar to the Kosas foundation (which I hated too! hahaha)
