Looks like the fielding and catching decided the outcome Andy. Still early days and time to improve. Higher league, better teams and new grounds, which your good camera work shows us viewers. Like the new theme whereby you show us the incoming batsman on screen. Good touch

Hi guys, am traveling from U.S and have big layover in Gatwick airport before my flight to Edinburgh. I am a huge cricket enthusiast and player myself here in U.S. I wanted to check if you guys have any game this Saturday which I can come and watch and if it is near Gatwick. Would love to spend this layover time watching cricket than sitting at airport.

Hi! That’s good to hear that you are playing over in the US. Yes we have a game on Saturday. Our 1st XI are playing at home in Horley and yes Gatwick is about 5 minute drive/taxi from our place. Totally agree that’s a much better way to spend the time rather than sitting staring at an airport! If you want email the email address in the description box and I can get more info and help you more.

Wadders is a great player, I’m surprised he hasn’t been in the squad personally. We may see him at some point. Doesn’t look to be any chance of rain so that’s positive and we are at home which is also good for us.

Embarrassing really. Cricket is a game for gentlemen. Not children. If you don't like being run out then stay in your crease. Don't be upset because you made a bad decision.

I haven’t yet looked at it that closely but I know you as a keeper will have done and have a good eye for it. Sometimes umpires may get it wrong but not too often, all of our umpires are well qualified which is always a good start.

Great game. Sad to see player go nuts over a run out. It’s not like he was run out not facing a ball. 🤣🤣 drop catches are an issue but some batting decisions in Horley’s innings defo cost them more. Plenty balls/overs to score 170 to win. Better luck next time

Yeah it was a poor show from him especially as he was claiming the umpire wasn’t looking too! They are an issue at the moment, they will get better, it’s something we are normally really good at.

Hmm, a game that should have been won there. Batters need to take more responsibility & as stated, catches win matches.

Yes a second game this year we should have won. We have let too many runs go in the field and dropped far too many catches this year. Weird really as that is all stuff we really excel at usually. It can only be down to lack of match practice because of the bad weather. Same for everyone but we seem to have just been that little bit more unlucky

It will come good. We’ve all seen what we are capable of, just got to apply ourselves better and tighten up in the field not giving all these lives to batsmen. Still a long way to go and we know we are better than this

@HorleyCricketClubTV

We will prove you wrong I promise. This level is definitely not too high for us, we should be right up there at the top cruising through this league. We have been absolutely awful this year so far particularly in the field and with our bowling. Had both these areas been to our normal standards then both these matches would have been won comfortably even with our poor show with the bat last weekend. The only thing I can attribute it to is the super bumpy slow start to the year with bad weather and lack of match practice. We also haven’t been helped by slightly less availability at the 1s level than would be ideal. It will come good soon enough, just hope it’s sooner rather than later

Apparently the umpire wasn’t looking… Not sure how you can tell when you’re sprinting and running your bat in. Nonetheless, he was totally wrong. The umpire was watching like a hawk and he hadn’t grounded his bat either 😅
@XaviersBonsaiRetreat

Despite how well they played that entire performance was marred by the appalling lack of sportsmanship demonstrated by their 'run out' batsman. Even if the decision was wrong - it was given by an umpire and must be accepted. These players are supposed to be an example to the next generation. They should have a warning system or something. Shouting stupid comments from the sideline made it even worse. Sorry you lost guys - it all seemed to be going so well too :)
@HorleyCricketClubTV

It really wasn’t great, not pretty & not good for the sport. Apparently he didn’t believe the umpire was looking which was the main cause for the protest, on slow mo the bat wasn’t grounded so he was out regardless and the umpire was clearly watching like a hawk 🤷🏼♂️. I do believe there is a warning system and yes he should have been warned for this behaviour. We will bounce back, a couple of poor weeks from us in the field have lost us both these games but that’s an area we usually excel so it will come good in no time
