Aim below the target because when the arrow hits the water, it pushes the arrow up
@Eyes0penNoFear

And refraction makes it seem the target is higher than it really is 🙂
@dustinburris8739

Not because it pushes the arrow up but because the refraction of the water makes a fish look like it is much higher than it really is. The farther out and deeper the fish is the lower you will need to aim.
@DES.REVER.DESIGNS

It's actually because when you look thru the water the object under the water will look like it's above where it actually is. Due to retraction. It's the same reason a beverage straw in a glass of water will look like it's cut/shifted when you look at it thru the side of the glass

Maybe. The tip anyway so it doesn’t dull after a few uses, but it can always be resharpened. You could make a barbed tip and tie cordage to the arrow as well. But as is it serves its purpose and the arrows take very little time to craft on the fly.

If your students are really wanting more or wishing there was a sequel to follow up with of this story, I don't think their is one, But I can recommend A Very similar book that was actually my personal favorite of the 2 ! (And my favorite of The whole genre! Even still to this Very day.) it was actually the first "actual novel" or "real book" aka not a "kid's book" with pictures and only a few words per page. It's actually what got me into reading "real books" and I absolutely Still recommend it. The title is. " My Side Of The Mountain" I promise you if they enjoyed hatchet they will like This all the same. ( As I recall they are around the same reading level as well So it should be appropriate for the age/skill of the class)
