Join me and my two loyal canine companions on an incredible 11-day trek across ALTA VIA 1 in AOSTA VALLEY, filled with anticipation and wonder. From Donnas to Courmayeur, we traverse 8 valleys and surpass 19 breathtaking passes, covering 121 miles with a positive elevation gain of 54,800 feet and a negative elevation of 51,800 feet. The highest point? Col de Malatrà at 9,596 feet.
During our journey, we immersed ourselves in the realities of outdoor life: managing the cold, organizing food, choosing camp sites, and adapting our plans to the whimsical weather. Every decision made this adventure not only possible but unforgettable.
With 8 nights in a tent, one at the Tzan mountain shelter, and a comforting night at the Chalet de la Poyà in Valtournenche, every moment was a test of strength, endurance, and courage. Will my body and my dogs withstand the physical challenges? Will my equipment be up to the task? Will I have enough food and supplies? Will I find water and a safe shelter every night? And what will happen when we face the bad weather and the most difficult trails?
Join us in this unique experience that goes beyond a mere hike, becoming a journey of discovery and pushing limits.
