Sheri - except you have to keep projection in mind... it's "you must be punished for the way I am imagining you're feeling about me", because shame is all about hiding, but where if you're looking at me in a way I am uncomfortable with, I can cover up, if you're thinking/feeling about me in a way I am uncomfortable with, I cannot... the only way I can stop you, is by stopping *you*... what might you be thinking that's so bad? Well that you got one over on me, got me to give up something by making me feel like it meant something, but it meant nothing because it has to mean nothing so that the time in the past didn't mean anything either because it's unbearable if it did, so I *need* it to mean nothing, which means you're a threat because you know how to trick me and get me to believe you and leave me feeling stupid... so I need to create a deterrent, so that you won't want to do it again... your desire is the only thing I can make go away, so I do that to hide my feeling vulnerable that I must be feeling because it's actually your feeling about me... I don't distinguish between my feelings and yours, therefore I can control my feelings by controlling you, because you are the one who can make me feel things, so I can *only* control my feelings by controlling you. Yeah, actually, my version doesn't really roll off the tongue, does it?

As a man, what I read is tragic, but I can somehow see how it became so, I just hope that you some day can trust someone again. In my life I think things have gone through in different periods of life, the period I'm in now looks at a relation with a woman in a very different priority order than before, I guess that I try to see those feelings the months in when we fall in love at the beginning as an attitude problem among both parts sometime when we try to show up as a fantastic "superpartner superlover" and by acting up we forgett to slow down to get a chance to actually see who we dealing with, and to understand that we need to live the boring part in a relation, to see who and what influence or get to know who and what is influenced by the partner, who the partner have or had in their lifes, some people follow us through life others belong to periods of our lifes, and we have time to see how that person treats others, and see the difference between how that person describes themself and their own actions compared to what we can see in them and their actions, if we see it differs a lot and they are pushing their ideal picture of themself and don't can take to hear what we say about it then it's a big chance we should let go instead of continue, slow research beats "fireworks" emotion bombs in the long perspective, and most important is that we never forgett ourself just because we wants to "get into goal" as fast as possible or that there's a stipulated time we have to wait out, it's only finnished when the proper job is done. We have a life where it's atleast three very specific stages if we don't want to count a fourth period before we get sexual active and just wants some confirmation in a youngsters hierachy (who can get who), the teenage years that sometimes extend a little further on in life, then we flex our egos and try out the pleasure of sex and attraction, second stage are trying out functions and behaviours in a relationship with a partner ,thats a spectrum from easy going to emotional heavylifting relations, a period that leaves us with some scars in our soul, the third where you value your wellbeing more and sexual attraction is important but character, personality, cooperation in the unity of a relation built on bilateral respect and love, are way higher requested then ever before, without the right person on these requested characteristics the look falls out of style with you, thats a stage where the old saying "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" are a real thing and much more than the nice quote we so gladly use just because it's sounds clever to say, when it really hit's it's not a saying anymore it has become a reality we can relate to out of our own experiences, when you can do decisions from well grounded knowledge you have seen are so much more than the stuff we once was told we had to live up to without really beeing shown how the real world was working.

@Dordana Hakimzadah Thanks for sharing your story and all the best to you, and I wish you all success in the world to get rid of your trauma. As you yourself said, you have severe trust issues in that you cant see the good in every one anymore. For some male victims, this problem expresses itself in a different way, namely in stereotyping all women as narcissists. You also claim that the guy supports Donald trump and that is somehow narcissistic, which is a fallacy in itself since narcissism implies that you don't care one bit about others. Trump is not a narcissist. Something tells me you're one of those leftists who doesn't care about facts. If someone wants to hate all women, let them do so, they have the right to. Just like many feminists hate all men, let them. They'll be the miserable ones when they're 40+ and never had a relationship. I bet you're just butthurt because you're not intelligent enough to understand when he says that there are female narcissists which itself doesn't imply that all women are. It must really suck to be that utterly stupid. But on the other hand, maybe it's more fun, because I bet you think you're really smart, don't you? My X girlfriend exactly ‼️ 5 years of hell and I’ve been free for 1 yr. I’m still recovering and never thought someone like myself could have trauma from a relationship. She destroyed my life. I had 3 long term relationships before her and thought I was unbreakable to women. She broke me so hard I still have no words to describe it. We had a kid together. She tried putting me in jail multiple times by lying to police I had hurt her. After years of fighting I’m the custodial parent to our little girl and free. Listen up gents!! She was pretty and was addicted to porn, she always wanted more tats, plastic surgery, boob jobs. And yes she was permiscuous!! She never took responsibility for her choices, actions or behaviors. We tried counseling for a year but she’s just cry all the time and gave me nowhere to go. I’m good looking (not bragging) and was kinda the bad boy and lived freely. They crave men like that and try to break them. Men read this and learn!!! Save your lives!! Now I’m MGTOW

This video, and others like it, have been such a big help to me. I could never understand my ex-girlfriends behavior, but when I tried to talk about it (usually very emotionally) she would gaslight me and convince me my perceptions and instinct were wrong. Now, viewing her behaviour through the prism of narcassism, it becomes painfully clear she was likely a cluster B individual and, although the whole thing is still very painful to me, the understanding I know have, from videos just like this, is helping me recover from the abuse. Watching these videos not only helped me see her and her actions, they helped me spot out the abuse and manipulation and the irrationality. I was so messed up i wasnt sure if my emotions were right or wrong, or justified, started closing myself off from my friends. These videos got me the courage to just cut her out. Indeed, you start to harden up after a few times. When I was in my very early 20s, I did the same thing, I would continue forgiving and trying everything to stay together. After a few times it just gets easier and easier, once you've hardened enough you wont take no shit from any woman again. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be rational and think that there is a possibility that you might be wrong in an argument, but you wont accept their obvious mental disorders in fear of being left. You'll encounter many women who are as emotionally immature as a 10 year old, and it becomes so obvious. Like a child starts crying when the parents don't buy the sweets he picked out while grocery shopping. You just start laughing and you get the hell out of there as fast as you can.

It was absolutely heartbreaking leaving her as i still loved her but as much as i tried to ignore it i couldn't see a future with her. She was such a covert narcissist and her beauty was her biggest weapon along with the gaslighting and manipulation. I did a lot of soul searching after i left. I lost my job, my friends and the place i lived as a result of it all. I have thought about her every day since i left and it really is like trying to overcome some hardcore drug addiction. I did counseling and discovered i have some codependency due to having a narcissistic mother. Shows like The Wire and other shows that belittle men. If women weren't naturally narcissistic, they're definitely picking up narcissistic traits from their environment. You go girl!
@sixfive9638

@@omalone1169 On the contrary, men aren't sensitive enough. They repress their emotions instead of sharing them. Do you know why? Because society doesn't care about men's emotional problems. If a man cries in public, he is shamed, the onlookers are disgusted, they turn away. He's too weak. Vulnerability, especially with himself, is what a man needs to cultivate and practice. If he does this, he can accept his flaws and build up his confidence that has been shattered by the society, both men and women daily belittle all men. Your comment here proves it. What you are saying is that it is unacceptable for men to be too sensitive. You are attacking men by saying this and encouraging them to repress these emotions even more, which are real and they do have. If a man accepts his own flaws, he can build his confidence and turn away from society. This is the real fear that society has - that men will leave soul-sucking jobs and marriages, and instead build their own empires where they are in control and they decide what to do with their productivity. Men who are confident can start businesses and become CEOs without the need to spend that money on a woman, while getting only belittlement in return. Men need to stand up for their emotional boundaries and say enough is enough. Right now many of them have grown up being taught to be more sensitive. But sensitivity and having boundaries are two separate things.

One of the best explanations I’ve read. It gets too complex when it’s simple. Healthy friendships and relationships are usually even. Rarely are they tipped very far to one side. NPD and BPD tip the scales so far over, it becomes abuse. And then it gets really bad when people are brainwashed into believing the scales are tipped towards them while being abused. Horrible stuff. Totaly my experiences with my last girl friend. I must say, never being refused sex was great, but it was a lot of work to try and keep things some what normal. One time after a little argument, she said with joy, " good some one i can argue with ". One time She badgered me for two days trying to get me angry, (projection identification) i did get angry but kept it to just telling her sternly my opinion of what was happening and went for a walk. After returning to her from my nieces still born baby funeral we laid in bed, I was crying, she said a prayer ,2 min later she turned her back on me , moved out of reach and fell asleep. I looked in stunned horror. I spoke to her about it the next day and she said " i thought you were asleep. No empathy, but she pretends to care. Very desterbed women. Its weird that you never mentioned what seems to be the most obvious answer to "why desire men who are 'alpha'?" : THE NEED TO SURVIVE = THE DESIRE FOR A PARTNER WHO HAS POWER. In otherwords, completely natural for all human beings (survival nature). Everything you mention that sums up to "alpha" is actually just a subset of POWER. 'success' and 'wealth' (interchangeable and essentially the same) is a measure of power. 'predatory' / 'alpha' actions are actions that demonstrate 'strength' of both will and physical capability, and the demonstration of strength is perceived as evidence of power (because people with no power more often run away, not fight, since fighting someone who has more power than you would be counter to survival nature). In other words, Women are all taught to BE fragile, and thus they find that they NEED a 'man' who has POWER, because they need to make up for the fact that they are "fragile". LOL You see how ironic it all is? and yes its all YOUR PARENTS FAULT! but they can blame 'society' / 'culture'.... and then I will tell you the real reason these things became societal/cultural issues: CAPITALISM! Capitalism is now treated as a Philosophy: strong people, survivors, MAKE MONEY because PROFIT is POWER. Capitalism is to blame for the vast majority of human suffering, and by extension, human psychopathy. You will all learn this eventually.

The point of a borderline punishing you for their perception of what they think you did is something I experienced. Mine took me on a emotional roller coaster where I was told I gaslit her and much more on top of her saying I physically and emotionally cheated. It was like she wanted these things to be true and worked to almost convince me of those things since they were bullshit. Simply put I couldn’t keep up with the emotional roller coaster she was on before and after she left. Then she played me while we were separated. Always see red flags, figure out if you can live with them, set boundaries and never be afraid to say no. Not doing this has caused lots of pain. At the same time this past experience has taught me so much about dealing with some women. It’s made me stronger.

Towards the end I was drained I couldn’t talk to her I had to think before I spoke to her just to avoid an argument. I finally left she refused to hear my reasons why she just saw it that I abandoned her . 7 months after that relationship she’s having a arranged marriage, I think this is crazy . This is how bad they need someone, they need a supply that validates them . She’ll rather have a arranged marriage and basically buy a slave then to date regularly. This is the most thorough explain action of my childhood. My Single mom raised me as a boy. Demeaned everything. So it’s already all the societal pressures of listen to your mom, religious aspects… “honor thy mother”. But at some point in my youth I realized my mother who had a stressful childhood was taking all the frustrations in her life out on me. It was extreme bullying. I can do whatever I want to you, and you can’t do anything back to me. And you’re “not a man” type belittling and beating from my mother. I was the punching bag For all things she went through. The only goal was to get out of there. The family would always accept her behavior and hush it but as the subordinate in that relationship I resented it. I felt like I had gotten out of an 18 year marriage! And it turned me away from women and the minute any time a woman nagged me, it was ptsd. You’re trying to get me back in that prison of a house I grew up in… mentality. I joined the Marines to escape the physical, psychological and emotional damage I received. I found comfort in the brotherhood and the uplifting spirits of men doing positive things from all different backgrounds. This is my situation and I just would normally keep it to myself but this gave me peace to listen to this video. At 18, I was open to sexual freedom I hadn’t had before and bonding It also affected my sexuality too. walking out of that life long parent marriage of a raising, I found more comfort with male mentors. Women cause me stress. I had loving cousins aunts and grandmothers but I still resent someone having that much control over me and using it for evil intentions, the scars from my childhood are that deep. I’m told you can’t blame or cross your parenting with your sexuality but I think it’s not so solid. The cut from a matriarchal society out of anger and rage/to the nurturing of a patriarchal society which most would never look at it like that… but to me men were the calmer and more nurturing branch for me. Attachment and attraction went hand in hand. This is my perspective of how I am where I am. I’m more likely to listen to an objective man than a woman because of deep levels of containment has me with no desire to ever feel trapped like that again.

I find it weird that people motivate them and reward them but punished a victim of a narcissist like they’re the oppressor. For example in dating: playing hard to get , acting disinterested when interested, being subtle confusing, guilt blaming, gas lighting, perpetrating your character. And a lot of women don’t know why a lot of men don’t want to play their games anymore- they’re not games but a punishment.

Great video Richard! On behalf of all men, and of course all women too, out there who's identity, purpose and sense of self sadly has been scewed as a result from the abuse that people suffering from these traits and disorders project upon others, I want to thank you. I myself have over the course of the past few months, i.e since my relationship with what I now most definetly presume to be a person with extreme traits of BPD ended, been searching for answers, and in doing so often found myself watching these kind of videos, reading the litterature, and joining forums. I have never considered myself to be the typical "nice guy", and I have strict personal boundaries that simply can not be crossed, but at the end of the relationship, as I found myself in the "self medicating" state that you describe toward the end of the video, I realized that the relationship was not normal, and highly toxic. Somewhere along the path I guess that I lost my way, often even questioning my own sanity, the levels of my own narcissism, my own traits of BPD, if in fact I am the pschychopat? Feelings of shame, anger, guilt, an urge to appologize for things that I in some wierd way started to believe was my fault, when in fact, upon logically recollecting the events, wasn't my fault at all. Slow but steady getting back on track!

When you read the story of Adam and Eve in the bible you get the idea that Eve had sex with Lucifer before Adam did or that is the impression I got. Her first child killed his brother the evil act that plays itself out through human history. That was Satans child. Cain was pushed out and founded cities. I think that is where the many advanced civilizations that worked stone so expertly came from. They also had advanced technologies. This all came from his father the devil. I know I am reading a lot in the story but the history we see has to be explained and I think the explanation is somewhere in there. The current narrative of human history just plain doesn't fit the past civilizations that have left behind their existence in the stones they used.

Rick Phaler: you have to become emotionally strong, do not see yourself as the victim. Romantic love is bullshit and only happens if you find a unicorn which you won't. A few of my friends are with fantastic women, all of them unattractive, (don't know what I'm trying to say there? Just a personal observation). So very often relationships are a gender war, keep yourself financially safe at all costs. Make sure you love yourself in a healthy, stable, non egotistical way. Stand your ground, NEVER take insults personally. Keep an active social life. Stay strong and drop all expectations that you will be treated the way you want to be. When its good go with it, when its bad detach yourself emotionally. Outside of blood very few people truly love each other...keep it real and don't get bitter, life is a nasty little game and its all down to how we navigate it...very, very few relationships are based on mutual respect...don't get cynical, get happy and survive!

Heh welcome to an INFJ world, I did just that to my gf, she has yet to become a narc for real but her only way of communicating was very narcisstic and turned her heart of goodness and intentions to pure hell and suffering for me as she expressed her self through that one filter of communication.

Dear Richard Grannon, Thank you for this excellent presentation and video. I am a female viewer and I agree with most of your view points in this video. I have always believed that the there are just as many female Narcs as there are males Narcs. I have been a victim of narcissistic abuse myself, on numerous occasions in fact, both by males and females. So I know for sure that it's not solely men that are the culprits of this evil and destructive disorder. I think a lot of the psychology literature we read nowadays is heavily flawed and biased - we are fed with propaganda, not truth. Western civilisation likes to paint men as "demons" and women as "innocent angels", and that, in itself, is a very warped portrayal of the genders.

Women know very well the consequences men go through if they lay a finger on them and use it to their advantage.

I am coming from Asian Muslim country. I am poor. I was raised by single narcissistic mother. Thank you so much. No I understand myself a little bit more. May Allah help you in your mission. What I couldn't find in my religion I found in you. In my religion we have very fair relationship with women. We dont idolize them, we understand what they want and what men need. That is why men can marry up to 4 women if they can. But towards our mothers we cant do nothing. We hve to obey them. And because religion tells us that we have to obey them it is really hard to break relationship with narcissistic mother. I don't know how I am going to live my life now. Will I be able to do what I really want but not what I was expected to do. But I want to thank you. It is really hard to accept that only I - myself know what is better for me. Thank you so much dear sir! And thank you 21 convention - thank you for your mission. Sincerely yours.

I wish you good luck on this journey. There are a lot of resources on the web, but I guess most important will be reflecting on the things that happened to you. Live that shame and anger, and let it go and try to understand your mother through compassion. There is no way hate can heal you or me. Only compassion and love and forgiveness. We have to outgrow our immature parents and see them as they are. As immature indulgent lost relatives who hurt us but to whom we are still attached. I have lost too many years to hate myself and spent years in depression battling through. And my mother was great contributor to my depression. I remember her being jealous, and undermining every little success I had. Every little success. If it was not for her benefit it would drive her crazy. Once I had job opportunity for which I had to move out from her house and instead of wishing me good luck and telling - ok son you can do it I am going to help you, she said you cant do it, you will not survive without me. Reflecting back I understand that it started early on. She was abusing and punishing me not because I did something wrong. But because I didnt do what she want me to do, even by mistake. It took me years to realize that her behavior was not ok. And this is not how people treat each other. Especially close ones. I was broken. And maybe still I have some patterns that are instilled in me by my awful and ugly experience with my monster mother. But I am glad I realized I need help. I wonder if I can be normal. I wonder how do I realize what is being normal? I hope I can get through and be person who doesn't think that being aggressive and oppressive is normal.

DPN AST Brother, Islam doesn’t say that you have to obey your mother all the times. When she commands disobedience to the Creator (Allah The Most Merciful) or the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) or the consensus of the Sahaba (ra), then you are NOT allowed to listen to her. Respect her, yes, but never obey her when she goes against Islam by forcing you to oppress someone or to do injustice or to oppose any teachings of Islam. Please go to a Sunni Muslim scholar and talk to him at your local mosque, it’s free and you will have a better life. Let me know if this helped, Insha’Allah.

i had a very toxic relationship with an ex gf which i am still recovering from. the gaslighting (denying things she said, claiming she said something else) doing everything to try and get me mad (and i don't get mad easily) the constant tapdancing around her fragility which when brought up always mirrored and very creatively twisted around into ''my fragility'' the constant push-pull behaviour and negative reaction seeking till the point i was noticing i was embarassed and was hiding her volatility from friends and family. my opinion -- too much, my needs -- too much. till i just stopped communicating altogether because it felt too empty, pointless and painful. when the reactive abuse part came up in this video it literally made me nauseous because it was so relatable for me. i've had told her countless times : look i'm not the guy your treating me as, but she was constantly pushing for exactly that person. there was a boiling point where i went crazy hitting holes in the doors and shouting out something in the lines of : IM NOT LIKE THIS, WHY DO YOU WANT THIS?? what really bugs me is i know she probably won't ever seek the right kind of help because she isn't conscious of it or doesn't care enough. (which is a big mindfuck in itself. how could someone do all those things and not be conscious of it?) i don't really want to talk about it to people i know because i'm afraid they won't believe me because i'm a guy and because she was a totally different person with other people. the question that then pops into my mind is which is scary if i really think about it - the fact that i have accepted all of this stuff for well over a year / and that there might even be some weird feeling of love left after everything that happened - what kind of person would just willingly undertake that whole ride. pardon me if my english isn't that good it's not my 1st language but i want to thank you for this video it's very clear and informative. i have watched it numerous times sort of trying to figure out what the fuck happened and reclaiming myself again if that makes any sense.

I’m 17 years in with my Narc wife and the truth is they don’t get better. For me the lesson is understanding that I attracted this person into my life. I’m a caretaker and codependent personality which makes the perfect prey for a Narc. I’m a glutton for the abuse because I mistakenly thought all she needed was to be shown unconditional love and patience. Even as things began to deteriorate and I was beginning to change for the worst a part of me still held on to hope that I could change her. The harsh reality is that Narc’s don get better; they only become better predators. Get out while you still have some semblance of a conscience and intact mental state. A Narc’s unconscious mission is to destroy you. They hate you because you’re a constant reminder of the person they could never be. You didn’t break her and so it’s not your job to fix her. Remove yourself from the situation. Go no contact. Get therapy and learn to love yourself. Peace and blessings.

@@user-yd6qk6nk2i I would not say I'm mgtow as I don't subscribe or adhere to their philosphy (I don't even know anything about it bar a little surface level concept), but I have become increasingly reclusive and hiding away in video games, movies and music. I also did these things, but I had a much better balance with social life in the past. I don't want to be around people and it's because (and yes I'm projecting) I don't want to be judged. I think the polarisation of both sexes is creating a perceived hostile social environment. I'm worried about what I'll say and who I'll offend in this day and age. When I was a kid you offended someone you apologised and you moved on and you don't do the thing that offended them around them again.

As a kid who was raised very antisocial. I had to learn the ropes and try to understand social ques/non verbal, It was extremely hard understanding women. I know this might sound sexist but the easiest way to bypass their bullshit or anyone's is to treat them like little kids. As a men from a different country coming to the states I see this stunt of growth on women of this generation. The arrogance, entitlement, and narcissism it isn't very healthy and is plaguing more liberal women. And unfortunately this generation of men forgot to reign in or battle the bullshit (being witty using nagging) And now some of the gatekeepers are gay men whispering to this girls warping them. By no means am I homophobic, but I've seen it first hand on daily life and at the bar/clubs.
