Natalie "somehow" beats Russell? There's no somehow about it, because Nat's win is pretty easy to understand in my opinion. Russell was too narrow minded and thought that making strategic plays was all that mattered, but he completely overlooked the social/human part of Survivor in his quest to get to the end, and that's where Natalie gained the upper hand, because she was focused on building those relationships with every single person that she knew would be on the jury, and as you can see by Erik's speech, the jury ultimately valued the social part of Survivor more than they did Russell's big moves with no regards for other people. Lesson learned if you ever go on Survivor...don't be so hyper focused on the big moves that you forget that you still need to get people to like/respect you enough to give you a million dollars

Shambo's comment about not knowing chickens could fly should've also been on here, because that's the second time in Survivor someone tries to catch a chicken and is genuinely surprised that the chicken is capable of flying

I love how people just eat up Russell taking credit for finding the first idol without a clue. When it was actually Gary Hogeboom in Guatemala. Russell's worshippers know this, but make excuses for it. And lol at the edit Shambo got compared to the edit of, say, Brett. CBS granted her the "poor shambo" edit as reward for catering to their boy with her jury vote. While Brett's airtime was meager.

***** Gary, technically, did have a clue. Idiot Judd won the clue and like an idiot told a lie stating it was on the ground. When Gary saw Judd looking in the trees for the idol, he was then clued in that the idol was in fact in trees. Judd gets a clue, Gary follows Judd and sees where the idol might be hidden based on Judd looking in trees, therefore by extension, Gary had a clue. NOBODY in Samoa had a clue, nobody else was looking for it (that they showed), and Russell found it all on his own (twice).

No he did not. Judd gave his tribemates false information and Gary was perceptive enough to call bullshit on it. Not everyone in the tribe was. Give the man his due. And speaking of "that they showed", apparently Russell took initiative to look for the idol when Yasmin came to Foa Foa and looked for it. The order of events (Yasmin looking for it and Russell actually finding it) were switched around to hype Russell up.

***** Yeah, I definitely believe they could have edited that way. It wouldn't surprise me. But still, I stand by what I said. Judd got a clue. Sure he provided false info to his tribemates. Gary followed Judd into the woods and saw him looking in the trees. Gary didn't take Judd's info for what it was and that was smart. I am not saying Gary is dumb by any stretch. He was probably one of the smartest that season, but Gary seeing Judd looking at the trees was a clue in itself.

It wasn't tangible, so wasn't a clue.

***** Nice try, but like I said earlier, not everyone was as perceptive as Gary. Even if Judd said "the idol is by far in the trees, man", it still wasn't a tangible clue. try reading the above comments sometime. ah, the excuses of Russell fans. They make me chuckle.

@thefoxoflaurels3437

Nah, Natalie was good friends with most of Galu and Russell was a showboater who was very violative to most of the jury. Erik may have bought someone's vote, but him, Kelly, Monica, Laura, and Brett were a lock. That's majority right there. Even if Russell had better social skills, Natalie's relationships secured a majority right there and Russell has no shot by Final 7. Also, Russell's wrong. Gary Hogeboom found an idol with no clues.

Michael desLauriers A Clue was already revealed to Judd, he lied to everyone saying that "It was on the ground" and he started looking in the trees Gary could've never found it, if Judd wasn't looking in the trees.. Judd himself became a clue to Gary.. Russell knew that there was an idol in the camp right when the game started.., he just blindly looked for it and found it..

Michael desLauriers Just being social isn't enough to win survivor. In Cagayan, Woo was more social and more well-liked than Tony but Tony won.
@thefoxoflaurels3437

Evidently not, since Natalie won pretty overwhelmingly just by being friends with people. The winner is decided y jury votes, so any argument insisting that Russell should have won beyond that criteria is literally missing the point of Survivor. Your Woo example is flawed. Woo was not unsocial, but Tony, despite the edit, had good relationships with a lot of people. And Woo, while well-liked, didn't have much in the way of actual friendships and was just kinda there. Sarah, LJ, Trish, Spencer, and Kass, even though they might have not liked everything he did, had a stronger relationship with Tony than Woo. That's why he won. Woo and Russell are both equally lacking in self-awareness, just in different ways. Juries vote differently because they are composed of different people, that is something a game-savvy person would recognize and prepare for. Like, ever since Richard Hatch juries typically vote for who they like or respect more, and most actual strategists recognize that and prepare. Richard was good buddies with a lot of people, and it was Kelly, who was seen as wishy-washy and insincere, who lost due to a bitter jury whereas the more "villainous" Rich was actually well-liked and was actively friends with the likes of Greg, Gervase, Sean, Sue, and Rudy.
