Man.... I started listening to Susumu Hirasawa albums and through that get into Berserk. Months later now I heard someone mention Piranesi in a video essay about Berserk... so then. having just fallen into a rabbit hole about the since 300 years dead italian artist and architect Piranesi.... I find Ruiner.... And now I find a song in Ruiner from Susumu Hirasawa and the title is "Paranesian Circle" which MUST be a reference to Piranesi right? It must be. This is a spiritual experience!

I played this song yesterday when I was reading Berserk. I read the first couple of chapters when Guts and his friends set sail with Roderick. I never heard this song before prior to that. The imagery of the chapters and the character moments on that ship with this song are a match made in heaven.

Jejje.

I love this song but I don’t necessarily find it ahead of its time. On the contrary we find a very 70’s kautrock atmosphere (like Cluster, Tangerine Dream). At the same time as Aurora I recommend the productions of Kitaro and Himekami. But it remains one of the master’s most complex compositions. It’s a real pleasure to see Hirasawa reconnect with the prog (love ICE-9 album and Parallel Motives track too).
@andresfontanez3016

Before ahead of their time are actually ON time. What happens is that every 10-20 years new artists dig out old music- so old that its new- and they rip off elements. So…90s bands used 70s electric guitar pedals, amps, and solo song structures. Nirvanas drummer used lots of Disco drum patterns….My point is: im sure some 2010-2020 musicians found Hirasawas music and borrowed some elements from it. Hirasawa himself used elements that existed before him. All artists take from various sources and put their original spin/flavor on it

Thinking about "Her" last words at the end of ruiner. "Meet me where Heaven falls." I found it confusing since we already toppled heaven by killing up the chain of command but knowing what she actually is. She might mean heaven as in the actual stars, I think now that her goal is complete she is intentionally falling out of orbit. Perhaps ending her own "existence/life"
