Suzie did a good job defending Marilyn, happy to see that. I always saw the statue of Marilyn as a tribute and appreciation of her and her films. :)

MM knew she was a sex symbol, and in her public persona she encouraged people to appreciate her iconic looks. In private life, she was much different and dressed in casual blouses up to her neckline and capri slacks...very casual and relaxed. She knew that MM was a fictional character, and she created one of the best characters that anyone ever has (or ever will). She was also strong and resilient. She fought and won her battles with 20th Century Fox and the studio system, and formed her own production company. This was no dumb blonde. This was a very savvy business woman who knew how to play a role when she was in public, and live a very different way in private. Plus, she was not depressed at the time of her death. In fact, she was never happier. She had won her battle with Fox and gotten everything she wanted in order to continue filming her final film, which was "Something's Got to Give". She was also not addicted to alcohol. In fact, she could not tolerate strong drink, and would only occasionally drink champagne, usually during a photo shoot. She never took "uppers". She was addicted to sleeping pills, which caused problems with her appearing on set, because the pills often took hours to work on her body, and she would fall asleep at 1AM or 2 AM, only to have to awaken at 5AM for a 6-7AM call at the studio. She was exhausted, and often late because of that fact. On some days she was so exhausted that she could not even appear at all. And don't forget that she was extremely ill during the filming of "SGTG" with a 102 degree fever and acute sinusitis. The studios OWN DOCTOR doctor suggested that filming be delayed for one month in order to allow her to recover from her illness. But the studio ignored his diagnosis, and as a result they had a very ill woman on their hands.

Thanks for standing up for Marilyn, you’re right, they always make her a victim and they always have to bring up her size which is so annoying!! This statue has been around for years and they’re acting like it’s new news. I see nothing wrong with the statue and I was lucky to have seen it in person in Bendigo. She was glorious! There’s always going to be people who do silly things for photo opportunities and now the world is full of people who have problems with anything and everything.

she was and is still an icon , why can someone be offended by a statue of one of the greatest women , she was such and actress , a beautiful human being ..but today we can see only an image of a sex symbol that offends . come on..how can art ,popular art, an homage being offensive and disturbing and also degrade the women ..there's no way. nowadays almost anything offends anyone..stop being so paranoid. All the best from Chile (sorry about my English )

Censoring art and what should be expectable is the same as it was 100 years ago but now with different reasons. Marilyn’s vision of pushing against censoring still stands true today. That’s why her work is so legendary because she is a rebel to what is deemed “correct”. Love you Suzie! ❤️

I don't like the statue but I don't find it misogynistic. I also think people should stop talking about her like she had a tragic horrible life. The same with Judy Garland. They had short lives but they lived intensely and achieved greatness and immortality.

Plottwist, she is actually the one that wants to stand underneath there, she just complains about it to get her sweet little woke-points 😆. But on a more serious note. Yes Marilyn was mistreated in her early days and its sad what happened to her, but can they stop being so sensitive, its a statue made in her honour.

It's an iconic scene, an iconic pose of Marilyn Monroe. It's just baffling how people are just losing their minds what's such political correct nonsense. You can still appreciate the beauty of the woman without being hateful, or misogynistic. There are far worse obscene things of sexual nature out there in the public sphere than this thing.
