Buyer beware. We bought a new DF6A in 2017. Suzuki has a problem with the valves in these engines. Ours has failed four times with stuck valves and bent push rods that happens during short term storage. It has been in the shop for complete valve train replacement under warranty, and still has the same issues. Engine only has 30 hrs, and has had on time maintenance, with suzuki OEM parts and lubricants. We got a lemon. Other people have the same issues on the online Suzuki forums. So no, they don’t start easily after storage. We have to remove the valve cover and free up the jammed exhaust valve. Sometimes this takes hours.

Hello Suzuki. I have recently purchased a sailboat on which was a dinghy with a brand new Suzuki 6 hp engine! I was very excited. The engine was purchased in Saint Martin in December 2019 and has only been used for probably a total of three or four hours at best! I went to start the other day and it wouldn’t start. Very unusual since when I took it out of the locker after being in storage for six months, it started on the third pull. I asked the local expert mechanic for the boat yard to have a look and he came back and gave me a broken rocker arm. I have a picture of it. I am now in Antigua and desperately need to get this little part. Wondering if you can help me out please. Thanks, Mark Cosens. Sailing Vessel Vicarious
