I'm working on my 2007 Suzuki SX4 (Manual 2WD), which has the same mechanism for shifting as this Suzuki Swift. I figured out how to remove the "Gear Shift Control Cable" from the "Shift Cable Lever" because this video showed you removing the clip on top, however I am confused as to how to remove the "Gear Select Control Cable" from the "Select Cable Lever". The Select control cable end is a little different from the Shift control cable end. I don't think it has that "C" looking piece which stops it from pulling out, but it's hard to see back there, so maybe it does. Everytime I look in the OEM Service Manual, it just says "Disconnect gear shift and gear select control cables from transaxle", but I need to know how. It looks like the pin that the shift cable fits onto is a bolt, with an 8mm bolt head, but it could just be a circular bulb that stops the cable end from coming off, as when I turn it with my wrench, it just spins. Does anyone know how to remove that cable properly?

Hi please can you advise, I’ve a Suzuki swift sport, suddenly only 3rd & 4th gears, looked under car cables look ok, in your video you show a clip on the cable you are repairing can I buy that separately and if so is it called a horseshoe clip? Or do I need to buy the whole assembly. Another point I was wondering if you have a face on picture of what the whole end is supposed to look like any help would really be appreciated, TYIA😊

I'm not sure about the clips - probably best to contact your local Suzuki dealer/parts store. Alas I can't get photos of the cable as the car's long gone.

Not sure, sounds like something's a bit out of alignment, but I don't know enough about this kind of thing to be sure!

@@suhailmuhammed3069 Inspect all the connections and see if one is loose, if the cables aren't moving properly that'll do it.
If the gear box works fine but the stick doesn't self centre, would you say it needs new cables or is there a spring in the system somewhere? Cheers
@yaleman

I don't remember any springs in the cables, there might be inside the gearbox... if the cables move smoothly and the gearbox works otherwise I'd check there's no slop in the cables (those little rotating ends can take up slack) - then it would be worth finding a parts diagram for the gearbox and seeing if there's something in there that does the centreing.

I think this was about $400AUD, the swift sport cable needed to be imported from Japan
