Tip: it's not labelled on the front panel, but if you hold the Func button whilst moving the rate knob you can lock the LFO to tempo and select the desired subdivisions.

@@giantiri Depends what you mean, all the Volca's have their own quirks and the global menu works similarly from one to the next, I think you can do it with some of the effects like the delay on the keys.

It's not polyphonic. It's paraphonic. 3 VCOs, but only one filter, one LFO, and one VCA envelope to rule them all.

Thanks for the clarification, I think I've heard that distinction before. It sure seems polyphonic, though, especially when you add variant sequences, waveforms and active steps - what a ride!

Nice, interesting video! I love these small devices. However, let's once again try to keep it clear and puncture these myth balloons; just because, for instance, the Volca Bass can play more than one note at a time it doesn't mean that it's polyphonic. To be polyphonic one need a filter per voice. The Volva Bass doesn't, hence it's paraphonic. The release stage on a paraphonic synth will "always" be cut off, due to the single filter design. Polyphonic synths has a complete voice for each polyphonic note basically being in need of an oscillator (or more), running through its own filter (VCF in this case) and amp. An eight voice polyphonic synth roughly has got eight complete mono synths stacked together. Keep up the nice work on your channel - it will pay off!

I think the same reason rappers sample famous beats and sounds and new bands cover a song they like: People access new music through songs and sounds that are familiar to them. I've over two dozen original jams and tracks here, but this is the one that people like the most and probably why you saw it in your feed. At any rate, give the people what they want, huh?

I didn't take this as a cover. He is showing how to get that sound. Once you got it. Go forth and make your own tune. Of course it may be in this style but I imagine it could be very good and something people will hear as "new." As if there is such a thing.

Dude, it’s a tutorial, using a song people know in order to demonstrate the range of the synth’s features. Synthesizers of all types have been in the music business since the late 60s. Musicians use them for all kinds of legitimate, creative purposes.
