The Henry Ford Big Band teamed up with local vocalist Olivia Van Goor for a first-of-it's-kind concert to promote emerging working artists in metro Detroit.
Recorded at Adray Auditorium at Henry Ford College, Olivia Van Goor and the Henry Ford Big Band rhythm section killed this funky version of "Sweet Georgia Brown"! Featuring some awesome call and answer between Olivia and drummer Reggie Williams, this tune was an audience favorite and showed how Olivia's cool vocals can cut across genres.
Composed in 1925, "Sweet Georgia Brown", the most recognized version is the one used by the Harlem Globetrotters. That version was recorded in 1949 by Brother Bones and His Shadows, and adopted by the Globetrotters in 1952.
