Do you have measurements for this piece? I also tried out them and found only diffusion for very high frequencies, which also meets the theory. Below it is mostly reflection. Since the depth of the system is only about 5 inches there cant be an impact on frequencies below about 500Hz.

How can this small space absorb 150 Hz, it's even open on both sides!? And doesn't this also alter the diffusive behaviour?

And it can double for a piece of abstract art!

Equilateral triangles, 60 degree interior angle, look to be about 4" "length" (comparing the top vertical apex of 2 together to the size of his head). I've made a few preliiminary exploratory cuts with my chop saw . i "think" this breaks down to cutting 2 slightly different width double bevel edged strip of the table saw . 1/2" ply seems doable. Then you set a stop on the chop saw, or whatever cut to length. breakout the finish nailer and maybe some gorilla glue. Leaving the sides open. Some reflection will lessen inside that interior space. And as designed, more will be defused. Each "tent' can be nailed directly to the backing board, probably 1/2" ply. What if/ . . glued to 1/8" peg board, minor stiffening reinforcement and backed by 3" of Roxul What if ? . .tuck a small chunk of roxul inside each "tent" What if? a small round over on those sharp edges, more angles wrt more diffusion? back to the drawing board

would it better if it was solid wood?

what is 3d diffuser vs 2d ?

Regular? That's just designed to look impressive. Quadratic residue is the normal profile.

Isn't it actually a 2d diffuser?

This is a 2d diffusor, even if you want to call it a 6d diffuosor due to "XYZ marketing bullshit" it still doesn't change the fact that it is a 2d diffusor. Please stop confusing people as evidenced by the comments section. Also, the claim that the volume of air inside a small hollow wooden triangle is a "bass trap" is fraudulent or incompetent at best. I can claim with equal accuracy that my toothbrush is a basstrap for 150hz, in the sense that there will be SOME infinitesimal amount of bass absorption. I'd suggest everybody to steer clear as the marketing is simply laughable. Stick with tried and tested 1d and 2d QRD diffusors like pro studios do.

would you say making something like this with SOLID 4 x 4 lumber would be better than these hollow construction?
