The swing Dutchman was originally described by Doug Dent in his book on timber falling. IN later years, as an instructor, Dent would not recommend the use of this cut, because he found it too unreliable. I find it very useful, but mostly use it on medium and smaller trees, as they do not have enough weight to settle on the lean side of the removed section of hinge.. if that makes sense.
