Would love a video of how to replace the belts without removing the whole entire engine. Love the way you restore your swisher. Nice job!

Did you ever complete the conversion of the PTO Mower? If so, where is the video? I am very interested in this project and have been thinking about doing it. I currently have the same swisher 60 that you have.

Hey sorry for the late reply I was down south all of last week. To answer your question yes I did complete my PTO conversion by adding a gas motor to it, but it was short lived and I never posted any videos about it cause I couldn't get it to work 100% the way I wanted it to work, now I think I did save some videos on that project so I'll do a search on that. If you have any questions let me know.

I have 3 swisher trail mowers. (2) like the model you have and a T1260. All have their quirks I had the same issue u had but I solved my problem by turning around the center guard. I was burning the belt off. What I found was although it looks wrong the guard was rubbing and was installed wrong by previous owner and rubbed while engaged. I can’t figure out my T1260 tho It keeps throwing the belt off the idler tension pulley and I have tried everything, I may try to make a belt guard for it and see if it will keep the belt from jumping off the bottom of the idler pulley

Hi Eric, I found that by leaving the belt engage even when I shut the engine off and per-engaging it with just a little pressure when I start the engine have increase the life of my belts, I don't know why the engagement idler is so loss on these machine and like my videos have shown I've tried several things to make sure I don't get too much bouncing under there when you disengage the belt but its pretty much impossible :) again leaving it engage when the engine is off keeps everything tight and I just lose it enough so that when I start the engine it doesn't have to work to hard to turn over.

Claude Poirier I burnt a new belt yesterday on my T1260. The idler bounces like crazy back and forth and kicks the belt off the bottom. I’ve replaced the tensioner the pulley etc. it drives me crazy.

If you're breaking belts often, the tension is to tight, happened to me when I bought mine new. I backed off the tension to almost none, and haven't broke one in 6 years, just now replacing now the short belt!

I've had my swisher 6 years now and I now mow close to 18 acres weekly , I only change the big belt once a year even if I don't break it, the short belt that is another story, I have a few more videos I'll be posting to compare the swisher to my bercomac and will be touching on the short belt a bit more too.
