It's a shame to buy a quality tool, with the one tool being unfinished, GunGeek. ... I always carried the smaller Swiss Pocket knife with the Philips screwdriver on it, rather than the one with a 'corkscrew', as I was a Working Yanker' = Not a Wino Yanker. ... Handy, knife to have in a pinch, without having to search the toolbox for a particular tool. ... A knife with a 'bottle opener' is a 'must have' for the Canuck, that travels the world utilizing the 'Beer Map' of the world.

If it is genuine as you indicate an anomaly like that might be worth a lot to a dedicated collector. It's rare after all .

I have seen a lot of SAK since I got my first one back, and I have never seen one with a mistake/defect. Like a misprinted stamp this one might just be worth more to a collector than an ordinary perfect example. Proof that even the Swiss can make mistakes.

It's odd to me, but I'd buy one at that price. Especially since it's about 30 seconds with a bench grinder from functioning just fine.

I've had ones that have a tight fit on some tools, including the bottle opener and can opener and will scratch each other up a bit. But not one that has an unfinished tool.

Totally unexpected. Based on the "How Its Made" TV show showing the factory and QC process, I thought Victorinox was incapable of making a dud. I can just imagine a Swiss troglodyte forcing the screwdriver down in order to get it to fit into the box. 😂 "The knives just never stop coming..."

@@Gungeek Don't give the Swiss a pass...they've been using "Swiss Precision" as a marketing tool for the last 100+ years. All their stuff: Banking, Watches, Sewing Machines, WEF, Chocolate, Alpen Resorts, Machine Tools, Firearms, etc. - marketed as first class products & services you can aspire to - if only you could dig a little deeper ($$$). So the SAK is a inexpensive knife but the cat is still out of the bag - Victorinox's inattention threatens the whole Swiss economic narrative...the only way they can make it right is by sending you a complimentary 125th Anniversary 1897 Soldiers Knife.😁
