C.R. writes “I am a little more than 6 months into my PhD...I do not dislike the coursework but absolutely am failing miserably to like my current project...I am trying very hard to like it...and now that I think about it...maybe transferring is a good idea...I do not see this project aiding me much in the future...I have sought my PI's help multiple times to see the bigger picture but he has not been very convincing or forthcoming with providing me the necessary information...any advice other than what you have said in the video”
From what I understand, you are in the most difficult part of the project. This is where the work is tedious and the end doesn't seem in sight.
I would recommend you do is for you to actually sit down and see if you can create possible avenues for your own growth. Look to see what you're truly interested in, and see if you can leverage some of the skills that you're developing to go into that direction.
I would also recommend that sometimes we do have to do some tedious work, and see if you can leverage this to learn how to write research reports and papers. There is a lot to be gained from learning how to write and research.
Lastly, before you consider transferring to another Ph.D program you shouldn't get some detailed information about the other Ph.D program and where it will take you in the future. You need to be well aware of your goals of what you want to do in 20 years and start making that plan and how to get there by pursuing the doctorate.

David Maslach is a research professor of entrepreneurship, innovation, and business strategy, I discuss topics, such as behavioral science, strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and apply these to my new peer proofreading and editing platform. Topics include the sharing economy, altruism, investing in technology, starting a business, and bounded rationality. My favorite videos pertain to incentives, goal setting, and learning from failure to drive behaviors such as weight loss, stopping telemarketers, creating novel technologies, and creating new movements.
r3ciprocity.com: Peer proofreading and editing platform
A new platform where you can earn credits by editing other people's documents. Use these credits to have your own work edited. If you do a good enough job, you can convert these credits to money.
The goal of the platform is to get people to 'pay it forward' and help other people out by creating incentives for people to give back.
