OMG... you mentioned me! TWICE!! Woo Hoo! Total length of 32 feet? Wow! I'm getting nervous looking at a 22' Embassy RV! I think I'd fain't at 32! Always remember... it's the stressful times that challenge us, but also show us who we truly are. We get mad at each other not because of hate but because of love. We love the one we are with and when things go wrong, we get angry, fearful, and concerned them. Get mad more often! Not only will you challenge each other to new heights of love, but you have a marvelous excuse for a beer... or ten! Be seeing you!

Nice video guys! What was the deciding factor that drove your decision to purchase a 5x8 trailer than one of the smaller ones (4x6 or 5x6)? Also, what is it that makes the trailer hard to back up, short length, or width? Do you think a smaller one would be harder to back up? Thanks
@VANTREKKINGlifestyle
3 жыл бұрын
We actually drew out a 4x6 and a 5x8 in chalk on our driveway and try to figure out all the things we wanted to carry in it. The largest thing was our bikes and with everything else we just figured that if we were going to tow something we would get the larger of the 3, which is still small. We also got the one with a lower top that raises so it would be easier to load the kayaks. Backing up is a little difficult because it’s so close to the van and it’s hard to see. We did put a hitch extension on and it’s makes it easier, I think it is something you get use to and it gets earlier the more we take it. Thanks for the question.

We have a tandem inflatable kayak and rad bikes on a rack on our G Travato. I try to find toys we can compact and put inside so far no need for a trailer. My pup fits in a basket on my bike. We are in Ohio waiting for my husband’s vaccine until we can head to Florida to see some overdue visits of our grandkids. ☹️

We need to find toys that fit in or on the Revel, but for now we will use what we have. We have put Maggie’s carrier behind the ladder and strapped it, that did work well. One of our friends carry their dog in a basket, I got her to try it with Maggie and it looked like it would work, so we may do that too. We definitely want to get away from having to take a trailer. I think I’ve finally figured out the trick to your finding fun and adventure on your trips. Instead of thinking you’ll find those things after you get to your destination, you carry them neatly tucked inside the van so once you arrive, they can be pulled out Along with your rug, chairs and screen room. So no matter where you end up, the fun and adventure are there with you. Thanks for another fun look at other cool places in Florida. Glad you found a warm, sunny place. What a contrast to your winter adventure! There are so many places in the world, it must be comforting to realize you’ll never run out! Until next time, keep on traveling - to quote one my favorite travel advisors, Rick Steves.

Whoo Hoo! You're Back with a capital B! Outstanding video and also love the Q&A. Thanks also for the shot of palm trees. I just love watching you guys play. Owen, you're killing me with the steamed shrimp and OlBay (hot or cold, both delish). I'm going to lose it altogether if you start steaming crabs! Snowing now on Eastern Shore - love you guys. Keep following the sun and sending it up to us!

Glad to see you three are living large and living life on your terms. I’m with Lynn, Owen, about the trailer. Get those toys packed and head out. And, that split screen camera is very neat. Thank your lucky stars you are not winter camping in MI today, I have to bundle up and clean more snow this a.m., it’s already up to 2* F. Happy Tails, safe travels 👍👍❤️🐕🐕🥰🚗🇺🇸

Having the trailer makes it less stressful when deciding what to take and what not to take and it’s seems we always regret not having our kayaks or the room when we have to leave them. Wow I can’t even imagine 2*, stay warm and have a wonderful week. Thanks for the comment

We have a Winnebago view and tow a Honda C RV sometimes, it’s a struggle deciding to take the car or leave it home. The View is only 26 feet end to end, you add the car and now we’re up to the length of a class A. You can’t bring it all with you. Great video this week, I may need to go to Florida.

Glad you loved the episode. We do wrestle with that. Take the trailer and we might as well have the luxury and size of your View. Don’t take the trailer and we can’t have our toys... what to do, what to do? 😂 BTW, we pulled a Honda Element behind a 34’ Motorhome for several years... great combination.. put the seats down in the Element... stuff it full of “stuff”... put the kayaks on top... bikes on hitch on back... See... you easily start wishing for toys and stuff when being small and nimble has so many benefits too. And Florida... stay away from the crowds and it is a JEWEL this time of year. Thanks for being with us.

Re: the trailer. Why not take advantage of the Revel's raising/lowering bed? Your ebikes fold and should fit without having to climb too high to get into bed. There are some impressive inflatable kayaks available. You should be able to fit quite a bit in that space and negate the need for a trailer.

Well, you should have seen us the day we tried. 😂. We actually took the lounge items out and tried to get all of our stuff in. We can... but it’s tight... and it’s not convenient. And that’s with the bikes exposed on the bike rack. We have inflatable BOTE paddle boards that we love but mine is a 14-foot fishing BOTE and even rolled up it’s huge. By the time we got the BOTEs in the garage and one “suitcase” for clothes and the new portable fridge/freezer (haven’t seen that yet)... well there was no room for Maggie’s food and bowl and it just seemed unorganized and cramped... and with the expensive eBikes just riding outside it seemed like the thing to do was repack with the trailer and go that way. We just have too many toys... that’s the problem. 😂👍

Owen You said in order to get the time you wanted at Tomoka, you had to move campsites each night. Could you explain how you did that? I have found the RA app very frustrating to use. Thanks ! Ronda Lawhead
@VANTREKKINGlifestyle
3 жыл бұрын
We use the RA website instead of the app for the same reason. We start by searching for a site for the number of nights we want to stay and then we keep dropping the number down. In our case we booked a site for two nights, then we searched for the next two + nights and of course we could only get one night, and then you keep going. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle I'm hearing that a lot, how things are all booked up. Crazy considering most Canadian snowbirds are still home in Canada. Why is that I wonder? If things start looking up by the summer, we will have to book out places in Florida beyond then for next winter.

Any alligators there? Do you kayak with alligators?
@VANTREKKINGlifestyle
3 жыл бұрын
Any brackish water from southern NC down through GA and into FL has gators living in the water. It’s just a given. We spent many years in the winter in FL on the Long Bayou and I fished almost everyday and never once saw a gator. Heard about them... but never saw one. Unlike the movies they shy away from loud noises and people. They do like to ambush small animals (and sometimes small people whose size makes them think it’s an animal) from the banks... especially if there’s a place for them to hide in waiting. So yes... if you’re going to kayak in Florida unless you’re out in the ocean you are going to have alligator guests somewhere around you almost all the time. But I bet unless you’re being stealthy and looking for them you’ll never, ever see them.
