The bigger story is Italy crashing out. What is there to say about Switzerland? Toblerone and cuckoo clocks. I couldn't care less about the Swiss. Xhaka and Shaqiri, wow...tell me more.

All the focus has been on Italy yet Switzerland looked an excellent side. People judging by the name of the country and not the quality of the team in this tournament. Murat Yakin who has been under fire has done a sterling job with his tactical plan and selection flexibility. He has used his SQUAD perfectly thus far.

The Swiss did what England failed to do in the last final. They were one nil up. Instead of coming out 2nd half and sitting back, they finished Italy off. England, by contrast, sent them a written invitation to come back into the match. Well done, Switzerland. Well deserved. When do we get to see Shakiri again?

No surprise for me. Historically, Italy are quite poor when it comes to defending their titles. 1986 WC, 2010 WC and 1984 Euros. The Italian national will win a title and then go to sleep for several years. They have never set the world on fire by dominating world football.

You can't predict how bad some of these teams will play. The standards are low and they're not going to get better.

Ita didn’t look dangerous. But Swi were vulnerable and won’t go past next stage. The defender who headed the ball supreme just short of his own net, with no danger around. Panic set in. From close range Ita miss hitting the post. You can say Swi should have won 4-1, but it also could have been 2-2. And for that Swi won’t go past the last 8, wait and see.

They don't have a Pirlo to play those decisive passes. It was all very predictable from this Italian team.

While a team of grannies could give the Swiss a tougher fight, there's no evidence to suggest England would be. They've been playing arguably worse than Italy and, at the very least, equally as bad. They also haven't won their game so stop getting ahead of yourself.

@@kailashpatel1706 England are tactically useless. The Swiss can play dominating posession and on the counter. Much more flexible and thats a massive advantage in cup football.

Why are people so supprised about Italy losing. They were horrible in the group phase and got dominated against Spain.
