Very nice review! I don't mind the comment part devoid of music. I get the information I need either way. But having background music does make it sound slightly better produced. As sometimes the reviewer stops talking for a second or two, and it doesn't sound awkward by being completely silent. Interesting brand. The difference may come from sloppy catalog, if they don't sell a lot of shinken, might just copy and paste their regular offering's stats instead of measuring and update them. The actual weight seems standard for a blade without niku and a lightweight Musashi two-ring style tsuba. I also like the coat you wore in the desert. Somehow has a Fallout: New Vegas vibe!

Excellent review as always! Interesting to see something like this from them. I agree: definitely nicer fittings than a comparable Ryujin or Musashi. Interesting blade dynamics.

They have some crazy good black friday deals right now, especially if you live in the EU. I just ordered their amakusa model at 50% discount for 220€ with a free maintenance kit and free shipping (eu only). If it isnt some kind of „munitions grade“ item they beat even the chinese sellers by far. Almost to good to be true. Thanks for putting them in the spotlight!

@@alientude It came today. 100gram lighter than specified. What they do better than the chinese sellers: Sharpness, details on fuchi and kashira, saya fit, high quality leather used for tsukamaki. Where they are the same: Average tightness of ito wrap, small ledges where tsuka transitions to fuchi and kashira What they do worse: Blade polish, habaki fit (edge and back are wider than habaki), Tsuka shape deviates from product pictures, weirdly smelling wax residue in saya. All in all the price to quality ratio is better than with the chinese sellers but not as much as to justify paying their normal retail prices. I would (and perhaps will again) buy from them when they have their annualy 40-50 % discount weeks.

Hey man! I’d be interested in knowing if you ran into any issues with US Customs. I just ordered one that is stuck in Atlanta because of the rayskin.

That's really quite unusual from what I've seen. I've bought and received a number of katana (most of them from China, but not all) from outside the US and customs never had any issue with them.

Hy … please how can you proof what blade material this really is … maybe this is not 1060 … ? … they all can write on their web sides what they want … maybe this is a 440c or so … 😜✌️🍀🔥

These chinese swords rust like hell if not oiled. That is trait of high carbon steel. 440 doesnt rust so easily, its stainless.

I don't know - they sent it to me as a review sample and did not tell me what the extra cost for sharp was. My hunch is somewhere around 30-50 Euros.

Yarinohanzo focuese on the Bujinkan community. Their padded sword bags aren't worth the price they charge, many problems. Urufu out of Spain makes much better bags.
