it is against Islamic law to make noise or raise one's voice while reciting poetry in a mosque. When establishing the rows in prayer, Allah's Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) reportedly said, "Let men of understanding and discretion be near me, then those who are next to them (saying it thrice); and beware of the tumult of the markets." Abdullah ibn Mas`ud (may Allah be pleased with him) related this story. In his analysis of the hadith, Imam An-Nawawi stated that loud voices and disturbances fall under the definition of "the tumult of the markets," which also applies to group singing
