It’s crazy how they operate. My mother was severely depressed after my father passed and sought treatment. She told her therapist she was having suicidal thoughts and felt like she needed in-patient care. She came home and was talking to us about going away for a while when the police surrounded our house, kicked down the door and carried my mother out hand cuffed. She was literally trying to get her affairs in order before checking in and they snatched us up. I remember my momma screaming and the agony in that screaming is something I’ll never forget. We grabbed some clothes and were dropped off at different foster homes. My aunt was contacted by someone else about the situation and went to DSS about us. Her and my uncle were just granted custody of my cousin who was removed for some reason so they knew the steps that needed to be taken. Our social worker seemed annoyed by her wanting visitation, wanting to meet the foster parents, seeing where we lived, asking why they couldn’t get temporary guardianship, etc. Didn’t matter, my aunt wasn’t playing no games with this lady or this system. After 6 months or so she ended up hiring an attorney and told us she was tired of playing nice. She said she felt like the social worker wanted us in the system and she wasn’t having it. It might take her some time but, we were coming home. It took about a year, a whole damn year. SMH

As a black woman who works in child welfare.. Syleena’s presumptions are highly inaccurate. A newborn can be unsafe and adolescent children safe bc they are verbal and can care for themselves to a point. Foster parents are approved homes ahead of time so when you pick up a child , homes are identified for placement of the children. I absolutely believe that black children are placed in state custody in large numbers compared to other races. I’m not saying them placing the children in custody was right, however we’ll never get the allegations against her due to confidentiality.

@@Texas-tp3vj I didn’t disagree with that, I know first hand all foster families aren’t great , I’m speaking to her comment that she was shocked the child was placed so fast, saying it takes time… it never takes time for infants, they’re the easiest to place because yes, ppl want babies!
@kat64470

It's so sad, because the child can actually be worse off with the foster family. Maybe we need to rethink the system. I think maybe we should place the mothers in homes with someone who can teach them how to raise children safely. It's very sad, but some people have never seen healthy marriages nor healthy families and basics that help raise healthy children.
@joirichardson1479

Syleena is so on point! I work with the Foster Care Unit and have seen the politics the Child protection services play to adopt newborns and young infants to White couples who can not have children! I'm actually still on a case for over three years dealing with a young mixed black mother who has had three children ripped from her arms all bc she was a youth in foster care herself and they automatically deemed her unfit! She lost parental rights of the first two and fighting for the last child! It's truly ashame and disgusting!

The authorities, judges & everyone involved should be investigated...it should go to the Supreme Court & the child should go back to their parents in the interim...

AGAIN, SYLEENA there is a process that always involves a judge to remove a child from their home. IF the child is in imminent danger meaning if the child is left in this home grave harm is likley. NO CASE MANAGER(Really its the investigators that remove children) has the power to simply remove a child without staffing it with her supervisor and Program director. If they collectively determine that the child must be removed they write everything up basically a court report and presents it to the court the judge reviews it and makes a determination from there IG the state needs to take conservatorship over the child. In most cases the court or agency never wants to do that because it involves A LOT or work so they try to work with the extended family like aunties, uncles, grandparents to place the child in "Kinship care" which is typically a family member or willing close friend to care for the child while parents get there lives together...and establish proof to the court they have stoped using drugs, have a stable employment, completed rehab, or parenting classes, or what ever family plan stipulations created by the case manager to help return the child home to a safe environment. Hospitals like police, teachers, and social workers are mandated reporters so if a hospital suspects a child is being abused they report it it gets investigated and sometimes children are rescued and some times its a bunch of BS...Some times its mom tested positive for weed and the hospital is obligated to report it. Many times the court will allow family based Services workers work with the family to stop whatever they are doing like smoking week for a period of time mandate parenting classes and the child is never removed. But you gotta be careful with that...I had a case once where they child was not removed case was recommended to be closed by the FBSS worker(Family Based worker)and literally 5 months later that child who was 3 was dead. Its truly sad...BC ppl complain about the state removing children and then also blame the state when they don't remove them and the children end up dead or repeatedly raped or whatever tragic circumstance. You can't win some times.

I've got to side with LisaRaye on this one because there are some missing pieces to this story. I do agree that the doc needs to be investigated. But when the hospital used the term "malnourished" to describe that child, that is worse than being a little dehydrated. Plus if she didn't notify authorities that she was pregnant due to the past family issues and had a home birth, what did she expect?

It is strange that they only took the 2 babies, but left the other 3 kids behind. Usually when any children are being mistreated or abused in a home CPS removes all the kids from the home. LisaRaye is right, there is more to this story.

I respect y'all but some important topics require more research. I think the conversation would flow better and offer more to the topic. It makes the show seem more gossipy( I'm sure thats not a word lol) than it really is
