R.I.P. Sylvester! Anyone who was in the Bay Area or NYC during the mid-70's to early-80's got a taste of paradise on Earth and I'm not just talking about the sex, drugs and rock and roll. There was a feeling of love & happiness the Castro, Polk Street, The West Village (I'm sure there were other places but those were the places I frequented) unlike any time or place in the universe. I can you without exegerating, it was a magical time. I would gladly hand over these last 23 years to have just one year more year from those days. 💔

@@JustinLHopkins - It wasn't entirely Hedonism. America was also having a cultural renaissance. The cost of living was low. The quality of life was high. If you want to talk about the cost of Hedonism you might want to consider the current opioid crisis which has killed more than half a million.
@JustinLHopkins

@@unfluster Opioid addiction is not hedonism. It’s a health crisis. Studio 54 is the definition of modern hedonism. Drugs everywhere, people fucking all over the place, and even deaths occurred. The club was literally stuffed to the ceiling in drugs and anonymous sex was rampant. I have no issue with this and if I had a time machine, I’d make 54 one of my stops. I don’t think anyone can seriously argue that this period in time was not hedonistic. Again, hedonism always carries a cost. Burning the candle at both ends never leads to anything good. I will say that the creativity flowing in NYC during the 70’s/80’s was unparalleled and we lost so many talented and creative people. We can never get that back and New York will never be the same. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. You can only party for so long before something inevitably explodes.

One of tunes on my phone. Right now I have 44 CDs with a playlist over 18 hours long. I have Swing, Disco, Soul, R&B, Rock & Roll, Country, classical, Blues. I've never listened to song because it's of a particular genre but because I like it. I was born in 1955 when we didn't have the copious choices of TV, radio, etc. like we do now. We watched whatever was on and some radio stations we couldn't pick up until after sunset. My hometown had CBS, NBC and PBS only when I was growing up. We got an ABC station when I was in high school just before cable TV was a thing in our area.

I drive around town listening to this, especially when I'm sad. I imagine Slyvester in my passenger seat and what he would be telling me, or screaming, and just having a great time. I listen to this a lot with my friend Lynnette. From one flamer to another, thank you Slyvester. You are not forgotten.

Not mighty vocals. No Whitney Houston no Marvin Gaye. He sung in falsetto. He sounds like Flip Wilson when Flip played 'Geraldine' on the Flip Wilson show. But with that being said he was a mighty and powerful entertainer and that is where his legacy is.

BS....what people think they are usually does not reflect reality. Boy thinks he's a girl....BS. Girl thinks she is a boy...BS. Means nothing. Stalin, Hitler, Mao and a bunch of others thought they were good people...Joe Biden thinks he's a good leader, reality says otherwise. You can't make a boy a girl by cutting off his pecker. Wise up.

This was 1978 and Sylvester was true to himself and a lot of people accepted him a such. Today there's too many that are more concerned about virtual signaling than being themselves and people can spot fakeness. In an interview, Sylvester talked about the problems he had with some in the gay community because he wouldn't "do it their way".

It was electric one night in West Hollywood when we still had Sunday tea dances. One summer in 1981 at the Blue Parrot this artiste extraordinaire jumped up on the bar in heels and caftan and brought the bar to a crescendo of joy when we realized who it was. That one impromptu performance of this song and all the friends I was with who shall be forever young was one of the highlights of my life. Thank you for this posting.
