(5 May 1978) Soviet President Leonid Brezhnev and West German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt at their second conference spent two and a half hours in what a Bonn spokesman called an intense and concentrated discussion on arms control, the Soviet-American strategic arms limitation talks (SALT) and the Vienna troop limitation talks. Brezhnev who arrived in Bonn for a four-day official visit, also held a meeting with the West German President Walter Scheel. He was accompanied by the Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko.
