this is the type of music that should be played on the radio. he deserves so much more media attention than most of these" so called" pop stars.

This is true! Andrew even discussed it on stage in his show in Minneapolis the other night. This song is basically about counting your blessings even when things don't go as well as you expected. So great. :)

The lyrics are awesome. "my friends are in the news Collecting trophies for the songs they wrote when we lived in the shadow of the moon" probably references Fun.'s recent success.Andrew toured with them before they were famous, and then recently (after they hit fame). Both "Some Nights" and "Carry On" by fun. were written about the hardships of a long, arduous process to become famous which connects to the "shadow of the moon" theme.Andrew is such a lyrical genius and inspiring person.

Nate Ruess is one of Andrew's best friends. They toured together when they were still in their old bands, and Andrew took fun. on tour before they could even afford instruments. They are almost synonymous with one another.

Synesthesia comes in a lot of different forms. What you're describing there, that's grapheme synesthesia. I have sound-color synesthesia, the words themselves don't matter, but the pitch, tone, and notes of a person's voice or their instruments invoke different colors/shapes

there is actually a condition (synesthesia) where you have a sixth sense; your sounds, numbers, and words have color and everyone that has it sees different colors. each one is unique

As much as I disliked Some Nights I love the connection and really love a lot of these songs. My only real complaint is that is way too short. It is so good to hear from him again and then it just ends. First two tracks are AM perfection. I could dig a whole album in this style but I do hope a full length is more Synesthesia and less Learn To Dance. I do hope I get a chance to see him live as I hear he plays SOCO and JM songs too.

Kinda saddens me that he likes Fun. He is like a million times better than them. When Fun comes on at work I'm forced to just put my headphones on all the way and turn my Andrew playlist all the way up to drown out the crap. Oh well I still love his work.

Yeah, I agree, but the one thing to be happy about is that fun.'s success is fleeting, whereas Andrew McMahon's will be much more steady over time because unlike Nate Ruess, Andrew didn't betray his true fans from his Format days with that piece of trash he put out with fun. Not the first album so much, but the second.
