- hPa means hectopascal - hPa are all connected/linked with isobars - 'Magic number' is 1013hPa as anything above is a high pressure system and anything below is a low pressure system - High pressure gives us a sun and clear sky - Low pressure gives us rain and clouds - High pressure can be called anti-cyclones - Low pressure can be called cyclones - High spins anticlockwise - Low spins clockwise

Anticlockwise=> anticyclone is only true for the Southern hemisphere. It's the opposite for the Northern hemisphere. I like to remember it like this.. The word cyclonic is apparently of Greek origin and it kind of means rotation (Ie. Of the earth). The direction of rotation of a cyclone is always in the apparent direction of the rotation of the earth from the point of observation. So if you were looking up towards the equator from the SOUTH, it would seem that the earth is rotating CLOCKWISE. And if you were LOOKING down towards the equator from the NORTH, it would seem that the earth is rotating ANTICLOCKWISE.

Careful though with anticlockwise and clockwise direction of H and L. This is the opposite in the northern hemisphere. An easy way to remember is that air leaves H and will be deflected to the right in the northern hemisphere and to the left in the southern.

I thought the whole piece was really good teaching and I applaud you. I am a mature student watching this, so I'm not being picky; I genuinely want to fill in some gaps I have in this subject. So, I had a bit of a crisis at 3:47 when you told us what these pressure systems are called, but not why they are called that. Is Low Pressure low because it is heavier air with the moisture it carries (that just came to me and I may be wrong..) & vice versa with hot air being lighter because it is not weighed down by moisture? (Some distant bells are ringing slightly and I may have just remembered this...I am a very mature student). But, anyway, that would be a good point to explain; i.e. what makes 'highs' and 'lows' lighter and heavier. Also, a moving diagram showing the inward direction of the lows and the opposite for the highs - and the way they fan out - would be good. Thanks.

Nice, explanation! It would better if you would clarify that the direction of the cyclones and anticyclone that you've mention in this video is specifically made for locations in the southern hemisphere. Because cyclones moves counter clockwise while anticyclone moves clockwise in the northern hemisphere. Anyways Keep on the Good Work!

You will be based on the same airport every day and will learn the weather as if you were eating food. When you are walking to work you will be thinking the wind is blowing which way it is blowing, because you are the important part of this team between god an man that commerce depends on. And that is just the start of it. When you go to bed and learn to relax after years on the same old stuff, that is the problem DON'T GET BORED! When you relax with god, that's when you learn things. Listen to him.
