Thank you so much! Initially, the thought of using a blow dryer on synthetic hair made me cringe, but I watched the entire video. The color wow is the secret to slowing the process of the under most layer of the back and nape from frizzing up and matting. I washed and conditioned my synthetic wig as usual, the used only the color wow in the section I just mentioned, and OMG…it was a miracle!

Yes please, I’d really like to see the curls put back in. I have some curly wigs that need refurbishing and then restyling, and there are not a whole lot of videos on how to do this on a non-heat friendly wig. Thanks for your tutorials, they are very helpful.

Sarah is my all time favorite wig. I have 3 of her. Thank you so much for this video. Even though my Sarahs are in good shape, i have other Jon Renau wigs that aren’t. I am going to use what I’ve learned here to try to revive them.

Hi Heather I love your video! I need to try this on some of my wigs, it is so hard finding the same products you guys use in US, as I'm new to wig wearing in Australia but I will keep searching. Me personally would keep it straight xx

I feel like I could do a whole video on what not to do with Curly wigs lol, in fact... I think I will probably do that!! But, in short a few things. 1. Only comb it with a Jon Renau wide tooth comb, and don't overdo it or it'll turn into a frizzy nightmare 2. Keep it well conditioned to prevent tangling and to reduce the amount of combing 3. Heat + Synthetic Wig = reshaped fibers. So, there's a HUGE kink in the front because my daughter put it in a clip and then left if in a hot car, so the fibers essentially formed around the clip. 4. Keep out of the reach of children lol

Do you condition your human hair wigs this way, in the snap lock bag overnight? And is that something you'd do every wash, it just occasionally? Great video 💕
@TheWiggyWoman
4 жыл бұрын
I totally condition my human hair wigs this way I just don't leave it on for as long since human hair is more pourous. I don't put the conditioner up on the knots but I still comb it all out with the conditioner on so that it lubricates the hair while I comb. I will still put it in the baggie, so that the conditioner doesn't dry out, and then I let it sit for at least an hour and then very gently rinse in cold water!

I have Downtime and I’ve made some mistakes on her because I was having problems on making her work for me. So now she’s all nappy frizzy and dry. I paid so much for this wig and I don’t want to throw it away. I need some tip on how to make her wearable again.

Heather, I have a JR Julianne, when you used the bamboo did you keep it off the roots? On non hand tied I leave in conditioning water overnight. How do you condition your hand tied after you wash it? I don’t want to losen the knots!
@TheWiggyWoman
3 жыл бұрын
Hey there!! Synthetics don’t absorb as much conditioner as human hair, so on a synthetic I put conditioner in the top sections but I do avoid rubbing into the knots. By the time I wrap it in the bag, I have combed most of the excess off. If some conditioner gets on the knots though, it’s never been a huge deal on synthetics.

The Bambu Silicone Mix really does make a huge difference. I did a whole separate video just on how I use that since it really brings dry frizzy wigs back from the grave! Here's the video if you want to see how I use it in more detail! kzitem.info/news/bejne/tntnxaCIcJyUeW0

First time wig wearer. Im sooo upset. I bought a new wig 2 weeks ago. Synthetic and it is a John renau. I used a glue called Got to be glued it's actually a gel. It wasn't drying too fast and My date was on his way and I wanted the wig glued on well and dry so I thought I could use my blowdryer to get it dry faster. Well now it's very frizzy. Can anyone help me out
@TheWiggyWoman
2 жыл бұрын
I use Got 2 B all the time, and yes it is a gel and it takes a bit to dry. You can also get the Freeze Spray (Hair spray) and that dries much faster and still holds well. Is it a heat friendly wig? I'm assuming not, and that the fibers may have gotten a little damaged similar to my wig in this video. You can try to steam restyle it and follow up with a silicone spray

Generally, some good points, but most professions and wig makers recommend NEVER combing wet wigs. They suggest letting the wig dry and then spraying-on a leave-in conditioner before combing.
@TheWiggyWoman
3 жыл бұрын
This is very true!! I tried to emphasize that this is disaster recovery and not daily styling because I needed that conditioner to help break up the matting! Normally you’re right wet combing is a no go! Even a finer tooth comb like that is not good if you want your style to stay - except that I knew I was going to be removing the style and needed it to be super detangled!
