To everyone scoffing at her, you need to do more research on this situation. What allegedly happened was, the artistic director of the company cornered Paige and asked her to essentially spy on the other dancers, including both professionals and kids, and report back to her on what complaints they were making about the company. The company had already received complaints about this director (Caroline Sheridan - she deserves to be called out by name) from the professional dancers who were later fired, but Sheridan chose to confront a child rather than any of these adults. I think this decision in itself says enough about who Sheridan is as a person and as a leader. Shame on this news channel for presenting this story in such a vague and cowardly way, and shame on a lot of this video's commenters for jumping to lazy conclusions in order to scold a child for making a wise and mature decision.

Seems like they didn’t really tell the actual story. For those of you telling a kid to suck it up and take whatever they dish out, wrong! Good for her for standing up for herself, I’m glad she has people that would support her.

Ballet has always been cutthroat but it seems inappropriate that they allowed it to get so bad. I hope the board calls for her to leave and back the dancers but sadly it’s NY so it will probably be swept under the rug since there are plenty of dancers willing to step in and work.

There is more too it if they fired 5 people on the spot.

A non professional dancer "quits" a production of the Syracuse City Ballet - That's the story?!!!!! The explanation for doing so is ludicrous and immature. Who works in a company or any other professional group to feel loved? We need to grow up and toughen up - the life of an artist is not all sweet, loving, fun and fluffy stuff.

You have to understand how small city ballet productions work. Especially the Nutcracker. They have supporters (and their kids) who appear as non-dancing or minor ballet roles year after year. Without these enthusiasts the company wouldn't exist. An artistic director that doesn't understand that you don't treat the amateurs (who are donating lots of time and money) like paid professionals is an artist director that probably won't last long. In fact, she's gone.

@bfjkenwood5981 So people are treated like shit and you're just mad at the dancers and want people to "toughen up"? You're pathetic.

Welcome to the cut-throat professional artistic world. Three instances come to mind: 1) Bolshoi Ballet dancer Pavel Dmitrichenko jailed for ordering a shocking acid attack against the Ballet's then-artistic director Sergei Filin. 2) Sexual assault allegations against MET conductor James Levine from the 1960s to the 1990s. 3) Sexual harassment in the ballet world is well-known: an article by Kathleen McGuire from Boston Ballet School states "ballet’s rigid hierarchy, job scarcity and conditioning of dancers to be compliant makes it a comfortable environment for perpetrators to thrive in." This particular young dancer doesn't "feel loved" and doesn't like the atmosphere. She is in for a rude awakening should she decide to dance professionally.

She's obviously not going ultra-pro, so she can have a sense of sanity.

Dozens wait to replace her. I’ve been called a giraffe on roller skates, and Lurch, the thought of quitting never entered my mind.
