I think it does fit the game, at least this song. I only remember it playing in the enginnering pumps or whatever where you have to run around and some parts of the maze are radioactive, and what part of the song plays depends on where you are exactly. i think there's so many horror games that paint into the genre with silence dripping with tension that we often don't take into consideration horror that stands in the backdrop of total disorder, panic, and noise this song has a melody (which, those synths totally give a feeling of mystery and slight unease btw) and rhythm, but the loud dnb drums can invoke this rapid, panicked movement that doesn't have time to stop and think (like how the engineering deck forces you to move through it quickly bc of the radiation leakages). in that rushing pool of panic and noise, there's a mutated henchman shuffling at the other end of the hall. his mind's been hijacked and only his simpler brain functions are running. he's big, strong, violent, and hard to kill; the sight of him heightens your fear and makes your stomach drop he sees you he's walking towards you whether you manage to kill him or you run away, you're deep into this labyrinth of maintenance corridors and it's in your mind now that another one of these things could be roaming in them with you. it might not have that large contrast between quiet build-ups and loud scares, but it definitely leaves you terrified and in dread/anticipation amongst the hissing pipes and the ringing alarms and the kickass dnb

That's why System Shock 2 has one of the most ominous villains - both Shodan and The Many. Shodan was voiced by Terri Brosius, wife of Eric Brosius who composed music for the game. Couple of years ago Nightdive Studios released an audio teaser to System Shock 3, but after that there were no additional informations about progress but I've read that they are working on remake of System Shock 1 (scheduled to be released in 2020) so maybe after that they will push SS3.

That was the greatest decision I made too, because of the atmosphere, when you hear the background music and the random clanks and machinery noises in it, it makes you think there's a midwife nearby or a hybrid running around, so you stop, look around, and the music lulls back down to just the motif, and you realize you're still safe to hack that crate. @XamiNaxamis I love both System Shock 2 and Bioshock games. What makes System Shock 2 even more exiting for me is this setting; In Bioshocks you are spliced just like many other spicers. In System Shock 2, you are on your own, a cybernetic-enhanced soldier against hundreds of those biologically mutated by the Many and the only ally you ever find, is revealed to be a megalomaniac AI. This whole setting is biology vs cybernetics, bit more visual and concrete setting than on bioshocks to me.
