Welcome to the 9th session of the Si Learning Series by Si London hub. In this 90-minute event, we are going to talk about systems mapping, why is it important, and how we can start digging deeper into this tool to understand the systems we are a part of. Here we are going to learn-by-doing, ask questions and share insights with other peers. Don't miss out on this one!
Overview
About the Canvas: This canvas is designed to help us map out the set of factors surrounding a given issue and to try to find leverage points in the system that may shift the dynamic. We first define what the challenge is, then map out the key elements affecting it and how they are interrelated. Along each of these dimensions, we then look for different places to intervene along different levels of the iceberg, event, pattern, structural, and model levels. Our aim here is not to create a solution but to ideate, possible intervention points around the given challenge that, if acted upon in a coordinated fashion, could possibly shift the system to a new dynamic.
What will happen?
This is going to be a 90 minutes session where we are going to cover the main tool we use in order to create a hands-on understanding of the content present in the systems inquiry guide.
Why should you join?
At the end of this session, you will be able to use this tool to help you build your own workshop on systems inquiry.
What is the Si Learning Series?
This is the second session of the third module of the "Si Learning Series", where we will be guiding you through a series of sessions during the next months so you can better understand the Si method and our material as a way to deepen your understanding on the ideas behind systems innovation.

Logistics
We are going to cover one canvas in each of these sessions. Canvases are a way for you to make sense of the content in a hands-on way. In this session, we are going to use this canvas which is based on the ideas presented in this guide.
We are going to use a platform called "Miroboard" not just in this session but in all the other ones in the Learning Series. If you are not familiar with this tool, find a simple tutorial here: bit.ly/3ZOgiz1 (relevant info on time 4:10-7:15)
