Wow! Your explanation of the strike system, especially for submission 1, was very helpful. Thanks.

I love your analysis. Pro youtube tip: If you use dot (.) and comma (,) you can go frame by frame and you don't have to chase the perfect frame to pause. I have one question. I am an amateur with 4 years experience and 43 yo. I was very stubborn at the beginning using a flexy blade and hurricane 3 hard rubbers. I feel that I got quite good in a very short amount of time because of this decision, but my trainer keeps telling me to change to soft rubbers so I can be more comfy. What's your opinion on this? I feel that China has the best players (not only top 10 but also old people that are amateurs) because they use this kind of rubbers that forces you to do clean strokes and not rely on the rubber margin of error. But in Europe almost everybody hates this rubbers. I will probably send you a video of some match so you can analyze if you have time :)

Thanks for the tip I definitely gotta remember that one! Honestly it is really hard to say whether it’s optimal for you without looking at your specific style and how you play. But I have always had the general opinion that equipment doesn’t make a good player, a good player makes a good player, and most people look way too deep into it. As long as you have something that’s high quality and that you’re comfortable with then you should be fine. As an analogy, Ma Long would still be Ma Long regardless of whether he was sponsored by DHS, Joola, Butterfly, or some other brand. Would some equipment make him marginally better or worse? Of course. But he’d still kill anyone outside the top 10 in the world regardless of his setup because he’s so good.

Sounds like you watched too much PingSunday. If your trainer says try softer rubber, then you should probably listen. You don't have to spend a lot. Get something like Yinhe Moon 12 medium-hard or medium-soft.

@@CMCMTTTV Every semi pro / pro player boosts for tournaments. Even the ones using German / Japanese rubbers boost. It's undetectable so if you don't do it you're just at a disadvantage for no reason. BUT boosting (or lack thereof) shouldn't be used as a way to cope about being at x rating. If you're a non professional player you don't need to boost to get good.

@@Waingro808 When I started with chinese rubbers in 2020 it was because of the recommendation of a friend, as I started in a group where my level was the lowest, and I wanted to be at the same level. Probably he watched a lot of Ping Sunday. I watched some Ping Sunday too, but he isn't my favorite tt youtuber. The problem that I see with all my trainers that recommended soft european rubbers is that they never tried anything different (or trained stubborns like me who don't follow equipment recommendations). They only like inverted european soft (butterfly or tibhar evolution mainly). They don't like pimples, they don't like penhold, etc... And apart from Ping Sunday, people told me that in China if you go to any simple park in a random city they are usually better than us. And of course they use their material which is mostly hard. Maybe the reason is that they put thousands of hours, and the material isn't important. Probably that's true. Also, from my observation, some people in my club are changing to Dignics 09C and they are getting way better than with the previous rubbers. And guess what? Dignics 09C feels a lot like H3N... Just for the sake of experimentation I am changing my BH to Dignics 09C that is a mix between euro and chinese, although very hard too I reckon. I would love to talk to a trainer who knows very well both worlds. But at the end of the day, I think @Looeelooee is right, the material isn't that important if you have good trainer. The only reason I think Chinese are better for improving is that if you hit wrong you lose continuity, while the european ones have better control and lets you get away with it. So if you train hard and focused, it can suit you, but it can frustrate you too. Depends on your personality and the quality of your training sessions.

@@CMCMTTTV I do boost every month, which makes the rubber a little softer, but increases the speed of the ball as hell (specially when the ball is slow).

I suspect the player might find it hard to control that racket - Viscaria super ALC + 09C + 05. And probably the lack of control overall is eating into the confidence to play shots.

@@nyzt_2152 it's probably a bit fast for his level. However fwiw I learned with a very fast setup and with the right coaching and a lot of practice you do get used to it and it will eventually be a huge advantage already knowing how to play with it

Well, this lad writes that he just started 8months ago... and is already playing one of the most pro (fastest, spinniest) rackets you can buy (...and most expensive). Therefore he does very very very short and hesitant strokes as he is not (Yet if ever - which is no diss but fact unless he becomes a really really good player) to control such a powerful unforgiving racket. He would do much better starting with a way slower pure wood blade (e.g. Stiga allround evolution, Butterfly Korbel etc) and a more standard and controlled rubber and learn to fully commit to the strokes (full range of motion) ... and built from there...

usatt.simplycompete.com/userAccount/up/180471. @11111ven Glad you liked the vid! With that said you're way off the mark in terms of rating see the link I sent. Just because the technique isn't perfect doesn't mean someone can't play at a high level. It's deceptive because he is a little passive but he would probably 11-0 a true 800.

usatt.simplycompete.com/userAccount/up/180471. @addictivecubing4872 See my reply to 11111ven. It's deceptive but he's definitely playing at the level of his rating. To improve more we need some big changes but you can easily get to a 1500-1800 level just with good feeling, athleticism and a general knowledge of tactics and how to win.

@@Looeelooee I didn't mean that he isn't playing at his rated level. I just wanted to put the ranking systems themselves into relation, since Germany has the TTR system and lots of people say you can roughly calculate USATT - 300/400 = TTR. And for what I saw here and in lots of other vids, that seems to be kinda accurate

@addictivecubing4872 Ahh I gotcha. I’m not sure about Australia but yes Germany is about 400 points lower so 1550 is closer to 1150 in German system
